The Calais problem (merged)

Now compare the size of the countries to see the problem with these stats. The UK is too small to take more ...

5% of the land area of the United Kingdom is built upon. 2% is housing, the rest industry, business, transportation etc.
You could put 10 cities the size of Manchester in the UK without anybody noticing.

Plus Sweden and Germany aren't exactly 2 and 3 times the size of the UK.

The Calais authority's have turned a blind eye to this for the last 3-4 years since Sangatte was closed and let the problem build and build, I have relatives who live in Dieppe and visit every 3-4 months or so and I am amazed at the zero policing of what at the end of the day majority wise are illegal immigrants with no papers or economic means to support themselves. The use of asylum seekers is probably over used as I would presume the majority are by far economic motivated. Its a pretty sad state of affairs when migrants feel that the UK is the land of milk and honey as a quick walk around Harpurhey, Cheetham Hill and countless other UK towns will clearly tell you its not.

What is to be done then?

A sensible way would be for the UK and France to take in half each into properly set up facility's to sort out those who they deem are genuine cases and repatriate those who are not but that's probably unworkable and full of potential issues.

A few have mentioned how packed the UK is and a quick search of the internet pretty much confirms that compared to others we are.

Have picked the mainly developed EU country's out and People per Square KM of land are pretty interesting.

http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/EN.POP.DNST/countries?display=default

Netherlands 500
UK 267
Italy 207
France 121
Portugal 114
Spain 93
Greece 85
Ireland 67
Sweden 24

Its a buggers muddle for sure and it seems that there is zero true political will or joined up thinking to get it sorted in a humane way, mistakes have been made on both sides of the channel, the French for letting the problem build and the UK for being the isolationist country we are becoming due to the right wing nonsense perpetuated by the likes of the Mail, Sun and Express oh and having a benefits system that welcomes abuse.

Ok and where are they to live while we are building these "cities"? Where is the money going to come from to build all these new homes needed considering we are up to our eye balls in debt and cannot even house all the people currently in the country? How are the already overcrowded schools and our crumbling heath service going to cope with this flood of people? Where are the jobs going to come from for all these new people? How are the public services who have had their budgets repeatedly slashed going to cope?

I know these people are escaping horrible conditions in their own countries but people really need to use their heads instead of getting all sentimental and saying "oh just let them into the country". We cannot cope with the number of people already in the country. Like it or not that is a fact and letting thousands more in will just make things worse. It might seem selfish but thats just the way it is.

It needs stopping at the source. Why are they leaving their respective countries in the first place?

And don't blame us or the Americans for going to war their. That was done for a reason, mostly around the fact that the countries being targeted are run by sadistic and twisted human beings. Process' were put in place to help support once it had finished, but it never stopped and there are factions still fighting us to this day, stopping any restructuring that could ever potentially happen.

They kill and fight their own. Until those countries learn to take responsibility and establish a way to find peace amongst themselves this will never go away.

Britain, or whoever else, shouldn't have to take responsibility for someone else's issue. Eventually you will end up in a situation that you can't control. Forcing our own people out of their own country. Passing the book has never worked.

The drivers themselves now will have to find another way. Ports like Plymouth etc become viable in the short term, but again it's not solving the issue just moving it somewhere else.

Barking, just friggin barking, another loon ball who should be stood outside a dentists house in America with the other fruit loops
And pray tell how do we power these 10 new cities with electricity and gas? build a billion wind farms? re-open loads of coal fired power stations? I know build a load of nuclear powered power stations, but wait, wont tree huggers and lentil munchers like yourself be up on your hind legs protesting about 'carbon footprints' and 'nuclear oblivion', you lot want it all your own way but never think the logistics through
The answer is these people have no right and no cause to be in Britain, it should be nipped in the bud now

I'v yet to meet one German..and i'v talked to a lot of them...who want a single asylum seeker never mind 120,000 a year in their Country

Having completed 30 seconds of research on the population density I have come to the conclusion that all these people need to be sent to Norway and Finland
They will have plenty of space to freeze their nackers off and die and thus resolve the problem for everyone ;-)

Love how nobody has question their background, migrants aren't vetted what so ever, they could be murderers, rapists, riddled with aids.

We bomb foreign lands and wonder why people want to leave them. We help create the likes of ISIS and the Taliban and wonder why people want to leave there. As a former Imperial power on whose empire never set and on which we built the wealth of the nation we wonder why those people look to the "colonial" master when times are hard.

The claim asylum at the point of entry to the EU is silly, because If granted they can come to the UK on an EU passport without risking there lives.

Germany has taken 176,000 asylum seekers, the UK just 24,000. Whether we like it or not people on this planet see the UK as a bastion of fairness and justice ( they should read here and that notion would soon be banished from there heads) Im quite proud of how the UK is viewed abroad but our current Government is doing its best to make us look a total bunch of selfish inward looking twats.

Thanks for writing that you have saved me the effort.

Also the theft of their natural resources and destabilising of existing governments when they are of no longer any use.
