I couldn't see a dedicated car thread on here, so here it is:-

You can talk about anything car related, anything at all.

I'll start the ball rolling:-

Does anyone drive an electric car, and if so, do you suffer from range anxiety?

What are your views on the new 20mph limits, I've just been on holiday near Bath and they are all over the place....fair enough when kids are coming out of school.

What is your opinion of insurance companies generally?

Mine (Mrs H car really) has 4 wheels and gets us from A to B very quickly, this will piss off some as we’ve had it before but it has my wife’s private reg, her abbreviated first name, the year she was born and the first three letters of our surname, bit poncy but nothing to do with me.

I was at a funeral yesterday and an old colleague was there, he’s just bought a Tesla, says he’d no interest in electric cars until he bought it, when he gets out of the car all the lights start flashing, the boot and doors open and it plays Auld Lang Syne! Along with many other things sounds like an incredible driving experience.

I do like cars. But they are such a drain when it comes to money. No interest in electric from me so far. And I hate insurance companies. My sons just learning to drive was 17 in October, I reckon its going to cost him 3K plus a year to insure a car when he passes. Bosses at work both have electric audi etron gt. Look smart and apparently are rapid.

My missus had a plug in hybrid VW Passat Estate as a company car for about two years. It's range on just electric was rubbish, and it cost an arm and a leg to charge at home. Literally doubled our bills in first six months use.
Luckily, she got a promotion, on a grade where she could opt out of having a company car and get an 'allowance' each month for using our own car. Seeing as she works from home most all days, and if she goes to head office in Edinburgh, or sometimes that London, she gets the train, it's ideal. The tax she was paying as the company car was classed as 'a perk' (but like many, she needed it to do the job) was high, so happily ditched it and went back to a petrol car. A two year old Honda CR-V, which is great to drive and has all the bells and whistles as standard (that aren't in Beemers and Audis etc)

I ditched my car after retiring, just not needed at all.

Yes and no range anxiety whatsoever don’t do big miles these days. As much as I hate to say it, it accelerates like a starship and is effortless to drive, much quicker than my previous car which was no slouch.

If we need to do a long journey we take the wife’s car.

Looks like great fun. These are invaluable for Farmers rounding up sheep etc. Trouble is they sometimes get a bad reputation due to louts tearing around on them.
I’ll be riding on the old logging trails and in the middle of the woods. Very much a lout free area.

I’ll also be using it to rip up tree stumps, move boulders and hopefully put a boat in the lake
