The Chants Against Foden's Mum

the Sun Jihai one we used to sing would certainly raise a few eyebrows if sang now!
There was a video on YouTube for ages of some Blues on a Shanghai subway train on a pre-season tour - it seems to have disappeared now - with the aforementioned song being sung. The locals’ expressions were a mixture of bemusement, mirth and total indifference.

Right at the end, a very loud voice next to the camera replaced the last ‘chippy’ line with a shout of “his mother takes it up the arse, Sun Jihai!” for no apparent reason whatsoever. Could well imagine that being immediate tabloid fodder these days.

We have given plenty out, worse, at OT in the past. We shouldn’t be remotely bothered about the Foden chant and I’m disappointed Pep has made a thing of it in the media. As long as it doesn’t cross the line into racism (or similar) or sick tragedy chanting, just get on with it.

Veering slightly off topic but this is a story that gladdens the heart and is what following football should be about.

Had it been a premier league side there would be dozens of angry comments about him getting an away ticket.

Off the top of my head, I've heard far worse chants at matches about... Hillsborough, Heysel, Bradford, Munich, Shankly, Harry Catterick, Elton John, Bobby Charlton, Paul Reaney, Harry Kane, Posh Spice, Beckham, Katie Price, Wayne Rooney and his wife, Jamie Vardy and his wife... and many more.

Football fans and subtle don't go together.

Obviously, because it's 'one of our own', it's more important to many City fans. At the end of the day, it's only words, and Pep should have ignored the press.
Has been going on for years. Recall Stanley "wheres your wife" Bolwes getting loads of this, but seemed more in humour than the modern chants which carry An edge of nastiness. Or a case of youthful naivety? From me

part and parcel of football not saying its right but we've sang song like this about posh spice being a slapper so tbh we can't take offence over it whoever is offended needs to grow a set and laugh it off

The thing is the homophobics, the racists and haters of disabled people were gradually silenced due to laws and regulations making it a criminal offence to target those groups. The same simple minds have now moved onto anything else offensive they can get away with. The fa or premier league can't take action but what they did IS covered by their own grounds rules and regulations. I won't hold my breath the rags will take any action or issue a statement condemning the chant.
