Yanks and Brits often name people and things differently so in this case any Brit is going to associate fireworks with 5th November automatically. Not every Brit will know the significance of the date 4th July either, there’s plenty of us bad on dates who can’t name St George’s Day for instance. Most people should know Amercian's have no concept of Nov 5th as its a purely British thing. I was in Boston, LA and Seattle on different 4th July celebration days ( over 30 Years ago mind you) and I never saw one firework.

When I lived near to Boston, l was 40 mins from Rhode Island where you could drive and buy fireworks from every supermarket.
I now live in Vermont, 1 mile from the New Hampshire border and as soon as I drive over the river and into NH there are three very large fireworks “shops” within 2 miles of crossing that are open all year round.
When I lived in Florida, every major junction had a huge marquee put up 4 weeks before 4th July and NYE all selling fireworks in a large cage inside the marquee.
