The Chase

So then tonight a question:

Whose football stadium is built on the site of an old colliery:

a) Derby County b) Manchester City c) Sunderland

The correct answer was Sunderland.

Now, let’s just say that the contestant had been caught in the ‘one question shootout’ ( she wasn’t - she romped home) by answering City, could she have had a case for some kind of litigation?

I knew the answer all day long was Sunderland, I just can’t understand why City was an option given that it too was built on an old colliery site.

What am I missing here?

Isn't the correct answer City and Sunderland ?

Beat the Chasers is after the watershed but Jesus Christ... the Chase is a family brand :D

If the contestant had said City knowing it was correct and then it was given wrong and said something then the quiz shows version of VAR would step in and the show edited accordingly.
You see it occasionally after a round of the quick fire questions where Bradley says the adjudicator has accepted an answer given that was initially marked as incorrect.

When I was on eggheads, oh, forget it, no one will believe I was on it once……

The problem with quiz questions are some many people think the rags are in Manchester.
I got into an argument at a local parents evening quiz.
" name 5 true Derbys ie teams from the same town or city apart from London".
I could only name 4 Glasgow, Liverpool, Bristol, Sheffield.
Of course he said Manchester, que me kicking off lol I even should them a picture of the map of Manchester on my phone lol to prove rags arent in Manchester lol.

I think the Etihad is technically on the site of Bradford Iron Works and the colliery is SE of the stadium, by all of about 200m. Seriously though, why put City in for that qu.....

I looked at the ~1890s OS map which shows Bradford colliery to the east of Forge lane, Etihad to the West. An older map has a reservoir touching the edge of what is the Colin Bell stand but the colliery just to the east still.

It's really much of a muchness, the colliery is so close as to make it a silly question!! Also, it probably extends underground around the whole local area, making a map a bit redundant!!
