The Conservative Party/Government

Yes but where is the help to get people back into work if they feel up to it?

You can't just say right off to work you go lad/lass after years of inactivity?

In the 80's there was a great scheme where people were trained for real jobs like brickies , carpenters, hairdressers etc or remploy schemes for disabled. Real funded training opportunities and ways for some sick, ex prisoners and squaddies etc to get back to work

All these have been abolished.
Another Thatcherite policy, cutting the Industrial Training Boards set up by the Labour government in 1964 to address the skills shortages.

Or the author that wrote the fiction.
Most likely both, mate.

Not denigrating the profession of sales btw. Quite the opposite. My first proper job was as a salesman. And I fucking loved that job. And I was fucking good at it. In many ways, I remain a salesman today. I think it’s a highly skilled profession.

If you’re any good!

I was going to write a few words on the latest bout of punching down, but I think we’re at the point where this thread needs to adopt the same approach as the one for the rags.

SCUM

The only good thing is that they’ve punched down so much, it’s now finally starting to make most realise it. They’ve blamed too many groups now (that include a lot of their previous voters or people they knew) that all they’re left with is the super rich or those that are contemplating voting for Reform.

And selling off REMPLOY ....the state owned company whose purpose was to provide the disabled with meaningful employment in an environment that understood that not all disabilities are visible.

All of those that were (or could be) employed were then left on sickness payments or PIP.

Tories once again trying to solve a problem that they have created.

They are highlighting the problem rather than trying to resolve it.
Bashing the sick, stopping the boats, sending people to Rwanda are all simple policies to get headlines. They are not policies designed to work. There's an election coming up and we're going to see a lot more of this shite.
