The Conservative Party

To be fair you did say you want a government with the values of a guy who died in the 18th century!
Now that’s funny, thankfully you’ve introduced the humour Westdids couldn’t.

Anyway, all political ideologies around today are from the 18th century, including liberalism and socialism.

Burke is the father of modern conservatism and his writings are modern, by political standards.

Not expecting who liked your post to know that though.

I haven’t seen much of it outside of a few, the majority I see seem more centrist to me.

It will be more than wider society though.
There’s a ton of socialists and the centrists probably just behind them.

Genuine conservatives are few and far between.

I don’t know many genuine conservatives that would want to actively debate the merits of this particular government though, which is why I said it would be different to wider society.

I’m more than happy to. I have a lot of grievances with them myself, some for the same reasons as those to the left of politics and some for not actually being conservative enough socially.

I also really like Starmer so it’s out a question mark over them for me.

The more I hear from everything else in politics though, the more off putting it is and the more likely I am to go Tory in 2024, which would be the first time in 7 years, believe it or not.

Divorce rates have increased since poverty has decreased.

Your 2nd put is true.
Divorce rates in the UK have been declining for well over a decade. 2019 was a blip (partly caused by cuts meaning delays in finalising divorces). Has poverty decreased? When life expectancy is declining...

In any case, where's the evidence for correlation?

I am not considering the last handful of years when our society’s social fabric has barely changed, I am looking at divorce rates over the past few hundred years.

The rates were considerably lower when a considerable amount of people lived in worse poverty than anybody does today.

It’s a culture and legal change that has caused it.

Or just other "conservatives" not rushing to support your particular take on what's "left" and "right".
I don’t see them rushing to support anything, with me involved or not, because they aren’t there, they don’t exist.
