The Conservative Party

That’s the other cases going through. You thinking this one is just a publicity stunt is a worrying start though for how you might react to those regardless of the judgment.

Regarding other pending /ongoing cases.... There is a major difference between not following some process or other (due to the pressing need of this situation) and awarding contracts to incompetent people to awarding contracts to your mates and getting a kick back yourself along the way

The first is just obvious it will happen because governments are wank at awarding contracts anyway so imagine if they have to do it quickly? Now if we end up and actually get a commercial savvy department formed to look after government contract as a result I’d be delighted. I hate the way tax payer money is wasted at times.

The second...people should be in prison. No question.

I have no issue with holding government to account. I just think lord weenie is a cockwomble for saying the government acted illegally in awarding contracts. It’s hyperbole.

They changed the law to allow for rapid procurement though, that’s not what this (or the other cases) are about. Its about whether they’ve even kept to the law that they themselves implemented.

Do you honestly in your heart of hearts care? you’d have been happy if they followed said process... And delayed getting supplies to the front line? Or maybe the vaccine contracts would have taken longer to sign, meaning we’d have started later, and more people would have died as a result. Would you? Really?

I get it, folk hate them.

I see the half-wit has liked your ridiculous post.

Tories in 'not giving a shit about which laws Tories break' shocker.

Another idiot for the ignore list.

Hahaha. It’s ridiculous because you know I’m right and your brain can’t quite get round to the idea that maybe you can’t really fault the tories on breaking this one.

But my all means explain to me exactly how you think following this law to the letter would have helped the outcome. Just give me one example. Oh wait you’ve ignored me... you’re one of those kids who stuck their fingers in their ears going la la la when they don’t want to hear something. Your debating skills are legendary pal

Right.

And then we had COVID. Can you imagine the outcry if the government said well we’d like to get some PPE and respiratory equipment in to the NHS but our standard suppliers are out and now we’ve got to go thru a whole bunch of due diligence and then have a 30 day review period. But it’s ok just wear your mums tights over your head that’ll be grand and stop you getting COVID.

I’m sure everyone would have been on here going....well done government for following process, the process is always far more important than the outcome.

and you are happy with

"we need some PPE "
"Matts got a mate who he went to college with. He ran a pub but is at a loose end now they are closed. Reckons he can get his hands on some for us"
"Ok what exactly? Where from? Does it meet the required standards? What contacts and expertise does he have in the field? How fast can he get it?"
"No idea - but he says it will be quick"
"Okay"
"He'll need £60m up front mind you"
" Of course - get me his bank details.............oh and no-one must know"
"Of course......"

100% not, and if that happened prison should beckon

It wouldn't have cost any time in delivering supplies.

It is all about publishing the contract details, as required by law. It wouldn't have slowed anything - some civil servants would have drawn up the details and issued it.

Not only did the govt not publish the contracts, but they then fought in court over doing so. Why would they oppose being made to be transparent?

Me personally? Absolutely I do. Firstly because I’ve always believed public contracts should be in the public domain. Secondly, I think at a time of economic damage like this, the spending of taxpayer money should be more transparent not less. Thirdly, I want competency first and foremost in a pandemic. This should all have been done by the existing procurement teams. And finally, I want any government regardless of their colour to follow the rule of law.
