What party do you think this guy represents - based on the branding?

For the benefit of our younger readers, Portillo is a former Tory MP, hypocrite and all round nasty bastard who, despite admitting to having had gay sex before entering politics, repeatedly claimed not to be gay and voted for Clause 28 (Google it) before reinventing himself as that nice man off the telly with no dress sense while living off a seemingly limitless BBC expense account to indulge his interest in the railways. His transformation has been Portillo-esque - thing is you wouldn't have to work too hard to appear to be the moderate sensible one with that cabinet as your backdrop. The main attraction he would have for Tories is in the 1000 days of Johnsons reign he hasn't been in the cabinet so none of his DNA is on any of the madness.
Stupid & friendless.
He was also the man who commissioned a report on pandemic planning. When it turned out it would cost over 20 million to implement he scrapped it.Couldn't agree more Kaz. This duplicitous bastard has been repositioning himself as the moderate alternative to Johnson for some time now with an eye to the leadership. Some of us have sufficiently long memories to recall his attempt at dismantling the traditional 'free at the point of service' NHS model in favour of private contractors and the inevitable creep towards privatisation. Frankly though, looking at the shower of shite making up the current administration, there's no obvious replacement! Ultimately, Aneurin Bevan was right in 1948 when he described the Tories as vermin and he's still right.
Penfold for PM!I'm still holding out hope they go for Mark le Francois.
Something else may appear about Portilllo after his passing.
