One thing that does my nut is when MPs can claim for food. Regardless of whether they're in Westminster or Constituency, their salary is more than enough to cover the cost of food. They have a London flat also covered by expenses which no doubt has a kitchen.

Exactly, I don't get at all why they get heavily subsidised food and can claim all these different things on expenses. I mostly work from home and if I didn't pay for internet then I wouldn't be able to work because my company pays nothing towards it. When I'm in the office I have to travel in and I get nothing towards that, we have a canteen at work that is run by a private company, we get absolutely nothing towards that.

This all sounds like woe me and I completely agree but MP's are on £80k+ per year which is an incredibly generous salary, it's well within the top 5% of the country. Add in their expenses and add in their second jobs (something I'm contractually not allowed to do) and it's just a complete racket. I understand it's not their fault and they should get expenses for travelling to London every week and so on but why do they get certain things like subsidised food/drink?

Drinking or being drunk on site or at work for us is a sackable offence, in Westminster it's not only clearly acceptable but it's subsidised to almost encourage it. The whole lot of them are morons and it's no wonder that they can't think of anything to help for the cost of living, it's because they literally don't have that problem and don't understand it. The second we take away their expenses and right to second jobs though then they will suddenly turn into moaning peasants talking up the cost of living like the rest of us.

It amazes me that these cock-wombles just can't see it, it's almost like helping people is actually political death for them like Tory voters will boot them out because they dared do something to help. I'm centrist, I see myself straight down the middle and I have voted Tory and Labour in the past but I will never vote for this lot. They're completely stuffed if this is the stance they're going to take into the next election.

Remember, in my (much) younger days, being shown a Playboy (yes, I know) magazine.
There was a spoof feature about Russia, showing a blonde nymphet in various poses astride a tractor. The article was headed "Tanya".
Opening the centrefold, "Tanya"was revealed in all her glory - the tractor!

Returning home from Turkey today ....warned at check in that there was an additional security measure in place for people going home to the UK....... SO ... Security 1 was all cases x rayed before you enter the Departures hall ... thats ok .... go to check-in (couldn't do it on line .. had to present yourself )... then through Security ... all hand luggage x rayed and you had to go through the body scanners .... thats ok .. standard procedure. .... waited in duty free area until called to departure lounge ........met by a lady who said that she was there at the request of the British Government... she then asked for passports and boarding cards
couldn't get in until we had been interrogated , passport checked , and then checked again ....date of birth ... place of birth ... then finally let into the departure lounge.


we are turning into a totalitarian state
