The Conservative Party

It's a double wammy as well because there will be a hell of a lot of people worrying about mad vlad using nukes. It's not a nice place to be at the moment.
That’s what is bothering me more right now than the domestic political and economic shambles.

The sequence will go like this:

The new annexed regions become part of Russia.

So attacking them is the ‘existential threat’ pretext for the use of a tactical nuclear weapon, probably against Ukraine.

After that, who knows?

Maybe I should be posting this in the relevant thread but this is a one-off and, of course, I hope that I’m wrong.

Will just finish by stating that this does not make me any less supportive of Ukraine.

Like Truss, Putin is another ideologue with an agenda that he wants to impose on others.

So whatever happens is unavoidable.

As someone who works in academia this is something I'm always amazed by, this notion that your intellect is set at 18 and consistent thereafter. I have encountered students who had poor A levels but a different environment at 3rd level led to them excelling in university, PG study and in the professional field. Others who crushed their degrees but couldn't function in a professional environment due to a lack of leadership or chronic indecision.

Intellect like fitness, is something you lose if you don't use. Intelligence is great, but intellectual curiosity, mental toughness, humility, persistence and dedication will take your further.
Beautifully put, mate.

Poll predicting Labour landslide rescues the pound!

1.1122 now - imagine a poll predicting a Labour landslide raises the pound - has Chippy seen this?

I am seriously worried about peoples mental health. My wife has decided not to listen to the news any more and I am seriously tempted to follow. We have always kept up with the new. I just wonder how people are coping? So much to be concerned about.
Couldn’t agree more. I look at my kids who are all in their 30s, OK jobs, young kids, mortgages just like everyone else. I worry so much for them, they are like rabbits in the headlights at the moment. Everywhere they look there is trouble. What a mess. It really is criminal. 12 years of the Tories and this is what you get. Be it Brexit, the Covid mess, the economy, the lies, the atrocious withdrawl from Afghanistan, the state of the NHS, Education, the reemergence of Racism, Hatred and Bigotry and Inequality, Housing shortage, general unrest in the workplace from Barristers to Postal Workers etc etc . 12 years of the Tories at their very “best” all sprinkled with the appalling behaviour of Putin. The younger generation really are up against it and I feel for them.

They’re expecting Diane Abbott to be the next chancellor too. Lol

There's a reason the Irish left the union and it begins with the letter 'T'.

Fine post that mate.

I've definitely grown into and bettererd myself as I've gotten older (and that included fitness too).
