The Conservative Party

Let’s start speech writing what she will say after her meeting with the OBR. I will start:-

We understand people concerns about the global pressures everyone is facing, we have made a start with reducing everyone’s energy bills from tomorrow and we have agreed with the OBR that we will produce our costed plans in November as scheduled…

who’s next?
You’ve missed out 2 Ukraines and a Putin from that sentence. Take every front line Tory speech from the last 18 months, substitute ‘vaccine rollout’ for Ukraine and Putin and they write themselves!

Ir's not often I have to turn a programme off but QT was an exception. Paul Sculley had the nerve to suggest it was just the fuel bailout that caused the market turmoil. If that was the case why didn't it happen when it was first announced on the day the Queen died? All smoke and mirrors. The night before Chris Philp actuall had the gall to say that the BoE hadn't raised rates since the budget. He wasn't picked up on the fact that they had only raised them the day before. Apparently it's now a victory that rates are not raised more than once in a week.
How they are funding that bailout went a little way to causing it. All that borrowing on top of what they are borrowing for tax cuts. And saddling it on the grafters of this country and future generations

They've really fucked us. They've fucked people's mortgage payments for the next 10 years. I hope people never forget this moment. I hope they never forgive them or give them the opportunity to do it again

The party line when asked about the "mini budget" is to waffle on about reducing the price of energy. Imagine Truss's surprise when energy goes up 30% tomorrow in line with the new price cap.

I was going to give their conference a swerve but it might be good for a laugh now. How many people do you think will be in the conference for hers and Karzi’s speech?

I though they would stick together and cheer her to the rafters but now I am not so sure. Perhaps they just won’t turn up.

Its just going to be a disaster isn't it? Just embarrassing for them. The press area will be full of reporters noting every word and they would be well aware as they spoke that every word will be dissected and used against them

Interesting chat this morning with a dog walker friend.

She is a Tory voter and over the past 12 months her retort to all the shenanigans has been 'they are all the same' but this morning, completely unprompted by me, she said she hoped their would be a GE soon so that we can have a Labour Government.

I was completely shocked. If someone like this is abandoning the Tories then they are completely fucked.

So, the UK officially not in recession as GDP rose by 0.2% in the 3 months to June according to the ONS, also the pound has recovered some ground and is now at $1.12 (it was at $1.13 immediately before the mini budget). Good news eh? Meanwhile in Germany inflation has hit 10% and the latest predictions are for a serious recession in 2023. In Holland inflation is at 17%. Bloody Tories.
