The Conservative Party

Rumoured tonight that Cleverley is set to announce he won't stand in the next GE...... if so then.......

1/ They know that they are likely to lose and lose badly in a GE
2/ A GE is coming soon
They know full well they are going to be battered at the next general election. When that will be, who knows, but I suspect the by-election results next month will freak them out even more than the last ones did.

The 1922 committee this week invited some American guy over and he told them anyone with a majority of 15,000 was going to lose their seat. Their ratings have dropped further since then.

Many tory MP's have already given up the fight, and stated they won't be contesting the next general election, including the heartless bastard that is my MP, Graham Brady, chair of said 1922 committee, a bloke so full of himself he won't respond if you don't call him 'Sir' first. He was quite happy to vote against hungry children being fed during the school holidays, but willingly voted for billionaires to keep more of their pension contribution tax breaks costing the treasury three times more than the cost of feeding those poor kids.

Whenever the election is, it can't come soon enough.

I'm not leaving this to the Brexit thread.

Farmers want to get rid of EU red tape, they said.

Here you go. 150 pages of guidance on the new SFI scheme. And that's not the actual "paperwork"...

One of my favourites:
"How much you’ll be paid:
You’ll receive £3 per 100 metres for one side of an eligible hedgerow per year."

Hardly worth getting the tape measure out for.

Cleverly is a strange one, although after only 8 years as an MP, he's got to one of the traditional top offices and won't get further. 25k majority in Braintree should still be safe, or there will be an almost complete wipeout.

It's not like he's got much to go back to - worked in publishing and the TA (as was).

well imagine that - yet again they are going to ignore the pay review bodies - they have spent all the cash haven't they?

The same pay review bodies they loved quoting when they recommended 1% rises.

I'm truly shocked.

Tory K doing a soft interview with Sunak to be broadcast tomorrow. Get your bingo cards ready.

He's a lying **** who's got what he wanted and will quit before he's found out to be the **** he is.

The likes of Cleverley will be off because they have their nest feathered elsewhere, probably with the aid of ’Lockdown’ benefits.

I highly doubt he's benefitted from lockdown - he wasn't a senior minister at the time, and was only made Foreign Sec by Truss.

Anyway, he's denied it. It seems it arose from the Telegraph citing "sources close to him".
