The Conservative Party

Is there or has there ever been a more dislikeable politician than Grant Schapps?

He is so full of bullshit and does not seem to know very much about anything, even the work of the departments for which he is the Secretary of State.

Whenever he's on the news being interviewed he always has to have the "important" red box in the background, just to show off.

This a man who made a lot of money selling a book that teaches people how to rip people off by pyramis selling.

There have been many rotten, horrible politicians but this typical toff really does take the fucking biscuit. I hope his constituents see the light.
I see schapps as the pin-up boy of this government.
He sums up the whole ethos and attitude of this current iteration of the tories, who see being in power as simply an opportunity of furthering their own financial prospects and personal influence
They have never at any point been interested in bettering the lives of the ordinary people of Britain.

Posted my reply here rather than divert the Palestine-Israel thread. How bankrupt both morally and politicaly, not to mention stupid, do you need to be to take the approach he does here?

We have the absolute dregs and bottom feeders of politics governing us, it's terrifying.
What can he say? Does he know what his government's policy is on breaking international law? Is it still the same that it's OK in specific and limited ways?

He'd be well up the list for the Portillo moment.

Who's the witness?

Alex Thomas who was a civil servant, one time a private secretary to the Head of Cabinet Office.
He may have moved on by the time of covid and the inquiry twitter describe him as "Expert on political and administrative decision-making and constitutional structures".

Now at the Institute for Government.

this isn't governing - asylum seekers or prisoners they want to outsource at substantial cost problems they just want to go away. This will never survive appeals in court anyway - the sooner the GE the better
