Interesting how it's framed.

The word "think-tank" only being reported because the figures come from a TUC backed group.

Compare that to Tufton Street and the lack of acknowledgement when they put something out.

I have two current members of the Senior Service who live in houses opposite me. One is a weapons officer who over 12 months after passing out and completing training is still waiting to be allocated a berth on a ship and a submariner who spends most of his time in his garage/gym because there are more submariners than subs. And we pay their very healthy wages.

It will take 10-15 years to clear up this mess. The huge amounts of money misappropriated during Covid and now going to energy providers, including Rosebank. Don't forget all those arms going to Ukraine have to be paid for by us and the money going into the pockets of Tory supporting arms manufacturers.

We are about to see even more money going into the well off with tax reduction, especially IHT - more money that will have to come out of our pockets. Fill your boots time whilst still in power and able to do so with impunity.

Not sure where the Telegraph got its info from but there isn’t enough submariners to fill current billets, let alone future ones

10-15 years at an absolute minimum. It's hugely depressing, even from afar. The euphoria and optimism that greeted Labour in 1997 will be in very short supply this time round given the scale of what they'll be inheriting. And by the time they've started to make any meaningful progress on clearing up the mess, the country will inexplicably switch back to the party that caused it all in the first place.
