The Conservative Party

No point in asking Tory voters of they are pleased with themselves.

Selfish pricks.
I’m a Tory voter
Did you actually read any of that ?
Love all these anonymous sources, what a load of bollocks

Tory voter not sure whether it was right to pressure people into getting sanctioned. In favour of ending the something for nothing culture but pretending there were no casualties. And doesn't want to believe that whistle blowers might prefer anonymity.

Ive attached an independent review conducted by a United Nations Rapporteur which concluded that the practices of the Department of Work and pensions operated under the Tories and the dogma of austerity has led to a massive increase in poverty, the use of food banks , and homelessness.

The report also criticises the lack of training of DWP Staff and the use of punitive sanctions for fairly minor infringements, Although the figure isn't included in the report , it is believed that up to 150,000 deaths can be attributed to Conservative welfare policies since 2010 and Professor Alston did mention this figure in an interview with BBC Radio 5 live.

I would recommend that you read the report (if not all of it then just the conclusions) because it has been accepted as factual by the United Nations . You will note that the Conservatives have rejected the report and failed to act on any of the recommendations , however the recent exercise of housing the homeless during the first pandemic lockdown has shown that the reports estimate of the homelessness numbers was much closer to the truth than the Tories estimate.

The report has been issued to all members of the United Nations ....... thats their view of the state of the UK.

The real question is whether our growth will be higher overall when 2020 is taken into account. As we were one of the worst hit countries by the pandemic with a massive contraction in our economy in 2020 it's not too surprising that our growth will be at a higher percentage due to starting at a lower point, but will we catch up and overtake these other countries?

As we are supposedly completely in the shit for evermore, according to this place, I suppose yet another could be or might do, in the face of something that doesn't rock along with the narrative does no harm.

If you're interested this goes someway to explain why some countries looked like they'd had a more severe economic hit than others. All to do with how public spending is measured by the ONS. Input v output.

There was a better article but I can't find it.

No idea then.
We'll ignore the worst downturn in 300 years and just look at some predictions of percentage growth from a really low starting point a bit like Trump's boasts about record jobs growth after an even bigger fall.

This is a Conservative govt topic, the vast majority of comments rail about how shit it is, and how the country is going down the pan. A report from the IMF that contradicts that view won't go down well.
To be honest, I couldn't care less, at present Johnson is around 20 points ahead of Max Headroom, the Labour party itself is sinking fast, the traditional base it relied on now despises the metropolitan, woke shambles it's become, as the tories are now more in tune with them, even though they're fucking idiots at times. To think that Hartlepool, yes fucking Hartlepool, looks like swinging would have been unbelievable ten years ago, yet it probably will.
The Brexit party no longer exists, and its many supporters have moved to Boris, which means that Labour's vague hope a few years ago was only bolstered by Brexiteers leaving the Tories, saving them some northern seats, now they're back, and the party has no challengers.
As for the politics threads in general, other than this, which is still up, I haven't bothered with them, posts from one side get deleted, from the other, never, so I'll leave you chaps to it.

Ok I get it.
You want to post cherry picked stats and not discuss the context.
Fine by me. I'll leave you to it.
