The Conservative Party

I don't believe anyone is heading in that direction. More like they're away from what we have in power right now.... problem is there is nowhere to go. They are ALL clowns and duplicitous charlatans, every fuckin one of them!
You don’t think some of the uks population are lurching to the right?

With the budget, Labour have now moved the country further to the left, yet with their choice the Conservatives now move the party much further to the right. Badenoch can now espouse a host of fanciful policies that will appeal to some but which will never see the inside of a ministerial box. The political map is set for the next four years, so the more interesting question, for me, will be what direction the country chooses to travel in 2029.

That fella who uses waterslides and such like as election policies will be happy, there'll be a few Tory voters he'll hoover up from this.

I think that’ll likely be determined by whether folk feel better off than they did in 2024. If they do, then no amount of dog whistling rhetoric will get the Tories elected.

True. I suppose it will all boil down to whether Labour can stimulate growth. If that growth is only minimal, however, and people only feel marginally better off or no different, then the rhetoric might just appeal to the more desperate.

Agree with you.

I think the tories have a slight chance in 2029 if Labour fuck it up, but I expect we are in for at least a two term Labour government….

talk about making your own bed and having to lie in it they are stuck with her now

That’s also an acknowledgment of how divided the Conservative Party has become. It’s basically an umbrella term for a host of small groups that share fewer things in common. Without that change, there might have been an endless cycle of leadership challenges, so, barring something extraordinary, Badenoch will now contest the next election.
