Why is it whoever plays alongside NDJ and Yaya does a disappearing act? Barry, Vieira it matters not they are invisible. Go to make another central midfielder a top priority in the Summer.

Totally agree it is really unnecessary, De Jong can do that job on his own which would leave more room for another more attacking player. Think we might see that next season though if we make the right purchases.

i had my eyes opened by a chap on the way back to watford on the train who pointed out that if kolarov bombs forward then barry slips inside and covers. you can't have it both ways.

i hold my hands up and admit that i'm shite at reading tactics and at this point in the season we all just need to hold our nerve and see it through,

Barry has been solid the past few games, the fuck are you on about?
I don't care how solid he is, him being on the pitch is not necessary when we could a more expansive player on the pitch rather than the 'invisible 3rd midfielder' as the OP puts it.

I find it strange how people are happy to discuss the keeper situation, should it be Hart or Given? The full backs situation, is Kolarov good enough etc? And of course the big debate about who should play up front? However mention Barry and all hell breaks loose.

Its not just him I am talking about. Vieira has shown he isnt up to playing that position anymore and Milner isnt setting the World alight in any position. We are playing with 10 men every single game because of the invisible man whoever it may be. For some reason you lot wont admit it but its a fucking serious problem position. You can defend Barry all you want but if we dont address that position we wont arrive where we want to next season.

our 3rd midfielder is already here, silva is ideal ndj holding, ya ya alongside breaking forward at the right oppurtunity and silva pulling the strings in the middle

sign a decent left back and its sorted

I have said this all season. We did it once and beat Sunderland 5-0, ok they were shit but surely such a convincing victory would encourage the powers that be to play that way again?

who plays left though i think he plays there by default which is a shame

Yes, 2nd half Silva was busy blocking crosses at left back all the time, poor tactical that made us lost this game really! (1st half Silva was so dangerous with freedom to pop in everywhere but 2nd half was wasted by the tactic to stick him at the left flank to help Kolarov, all of our creativity disappeared since then.)

I'm with you mate these Barry cock knocker's won't have it that he's far too over-rated. Would much prefer an attacking M/F to get it going in the final third rather than the backward/sideward pass!! But hey football is about opinion and we City fans will always agree to disagree.

midfielders who do both sides of the job, with and without the ball are pretty rare

bit harsh on barry, he's been doing a good job, but could we get better, probably yes - but unless its a gerrard type player we may strengthen us with the ball but will weaken us without it

Seems we have seen BOTH these methods used in the past decade here!

Keegan....go out and score more than the opposition!
Mancini....let's build a platform to attack from

I'll take the Mancini approach every time!!!

And, for my money, Barry does all the dirty work that never hits the headlines...blocks, clean up, covering for Kolarov and Lescott. He might not be able to win any sprints, but his engine is a diesel and keeps pulling the WHOLE game.

He's like your Momma, does all the dirty work, but gets none of the credit!!
