Get your fucking facts straight.

We were seriously outnumbered by the Coventry toilet seat lifters. Three to two iirc.

The altercation over who was first to get served at the Little Chef on the A19 with the Sink Pisser Bottom Hunters was merely a misunderstanding and was resolved by way of a game of throw them off the bridge.

nasty fuckers then...........
We vowed never to talk about that.

Sorry

Having read the previous posts I don't get the feeling anyone is trying to "gloryfy" the violence,or make heroes of people. It's just older Blues reminising about how it was back in the day. In the 70's it was a world removed from the modern day, sanitized "Match day experience". Going to some away matches would be a truly frightening experience. Very little police presence away from the grounds, and local hooligans wanting blood from any away supporter. Leeds, both scouse teams, the Rags,Middlesbrough and Birmingham spring to mind as really hairy places to go,along with any of the London teams. Me and my mates were never the scrapping kind, but knowing "The Cool Cats" would be there gave us a sense of security. So in that respect they were looked up to,as you knew if they were there you had a half decent chance of getting home in one peice. I can vouch for that after getting legged at Birmingham in 78 by their fans in our segregated area an hour and half before kick off and ending up in hospital after a spike on the perimeter fence pierced my leg as I climbed over it.
Someone mentioned earlier about the names of the various "firms". To the best of my knowledge,Millwall had "The Treatment" and "Bushwhackers". We had "The Cool Cats", other teams had names for their firms but the name reflected the area of the ground they populated. The Rags being "Stretford Enders",the Dippers being "The Road End" etc,so in a name like "The Cool Cats",that wasn't a reference to the teams ground,I found it quite innivotive. I stand to be corrected on any factual mistakes I have mentioned.
i remember that game at brum i was in early too very scary not many in at the time and got a good kicking coppers did fuck all remember our coach and many other having quite a few windows put in.

In reply to Itsa barm, skybluepete and underpants, sorry,I'm a grandad now and cant do the thing where previous posts can be put into a new one! Was a scary day. Got there and only 1 other coach on the coach park. Felt relieved to get to the ground unscathed, but that feeling soon left us as we walked onto the terraces from the top corner, saw about 20 fellow Blues,a gap,and around 200-300 Brummies. Only been in the ground 10 mins when we heard them shout "5,4,3,2,1 Birmingham" before running towards us. It was very rare to see punks at football and the thing that fascinated me and rooted me to the spot while the other Blues scarpered was the fact that the charge was led by a 6ft punk in combat trousers! I was never the sharpest knife in the box and I just stood there thinking "How's he managing to run with a belt joining his pants legs together at his knees?". By the time the penny dropped the only escape route was over the fence and onto the pitch. Unfortunately my foot slipped and inside of my leg got pierced by the spike. Ended up in A&E getting stitched up. This was before mobile phones. The hospital couldn't contact my mum as she was shopping in the Arndale. My brother and mum had to come and pick me up in his rust bucket of a little Fiat 126. I dont know who had the most uncomfortable journey home. Me on the back seat of my brothers car, unable to bend my leg and having it stuck out the window or my mates on a coach with no windows.

Like you yearn for the days when one of these "leaders" could jump on someone's head

Look, pal, i like others on this thread have said that's what it WAS like in the 70's and 80's. Not once have i glorified it, whereas you have been whining like a fookin tart about the 'leaders' jumpin on heads and going on about comparisons with The Krays.
If you want to play billy bigballs, ask any of the KK's, The Guvnors or any of the handy lads who post on here to PM you so you can arrange to meet up and tell them to their face what arseholes they really are.
I've had enough of your sh1te now. I keep saying 'that was then', you keep prattling on " I must be in the minority that thinks going out to an organised fight with other petty thugs IS a silly thing to do.
It happened in the past Neil nice but dim.

Give us a shout when the penny drops.
I'm fully aware that the 70s and 80s were in the past, thanks. I was there. Home and away. I remember getting caught up in a fight at Cardiff in '83 as a 12 year old. One of several and by far the worst. But hey, as long as the people who caused it enjoyed themselves, that's ok. I just find the whole " reminiscing about other people having a fight at a football match" thing a bit pathetic. Maybe you don't. But just to clarify, having a different opinion to you, and not regurgitating well-worn cliches doesn't make me dim. I'm sure you speak out for what you believe in, just like I do. You seem to think I'm not grasping it, but you seem to misunderstand everything I've posted. So, finally to summarise your stance, thuggery was fine 30 years ago but not now. Maybe peter Sutcliffe could be released on those terms ! Or did he kill himself ? I get these criminals confused. Pardon my persistence on this one, I just find the whole thing a bit strange.

so you are comparing City lads (now old men) daft ancient stories about scrapping at the footie, which sometimes happened whether you liked it or not by the way, to Peter Sutcliffe murders ?

Gotta be a wind up..........

I was there that day, about 10 of us went in the back of a van, very dodgy day but our lot stuck together as we always did and came through unscathed, only trouble was we stopped off in Walsall for a drink on the way back and got ambushed by the locals outside the pub, running battles up and down the carpark and in a local cemetery, Daffy got his head split open by a bottle

Not glorifying anything about those days in the 70s but you had to fight to survive if you wanted to watch your team, most away supporters hated coming to Maine Rd, they thought it was a nightmare, i,v seen so called hard mobs bring thousands to Moss Side and got wasted everywhere, yet i'v seen Wigan bring a mob of 200 lads and storm the Albert and the Clarence, weird times indeed
I was with Daffy one year coming back from Leicster Battlles inside & outside the ground Buffet compartment on Train back got robbed Daffy was eating a sausage roll & got nicked for it ,for fu*ks sake

Depends how far you could push it 30 years ago ! You know some people. Give 'em an inch..........
But yes, that example was probably a bit too extreme. Apologies ! Can't be arsed thinking of another infamous 70s petty thug at the mo. I'm off to bed. Night night. Not that Sutcliffe's misdemeanors were in any way petty...

Good God your posts are fucking boring.

If I don't like a subject or the way a thread is going, I will voice an opinion once, maybe at the extreme twice but you are like a broken record, as I previously pointed out, if you don't like the subject matter, exit, and leave those with interest in it to have their discussion.

I was about 15 waiting in line to get in the Kippax near the Platt Lane when a bunch of much older pissed up Geordies started mithering people , their leader a huge fat clunt was getting really nasty with old men and young lads.

One lad passing put the Geordie on his arse with one punch, the rest legged it, he was one of the Kool Kats and I am eternally grateful for his intervention, it could get very intense in those days even at home games kids.
