The Cost of watching City

It is,and let's not forget how travel and hotel prices go up for some of the bigger games,so could be a lot more.
As soon as a rag mentions empty seats to me I always reply with "You have no fuckin idea of the cost of going to watch football, you armchair twat"!

Yes this is my new response to wankers such as my brother in law. "You armchair twat" at Xmas will be quality.

To do every game will cost you an absolute fortune if you include all expenses such as hotels, trains, planes, fuel for car, beer & food.

You'd also pretty much use up all of your standard say 20-25 days holidays from work.

But it's a great way to see a bit of the country and more recently Europe and even the world if you include pre season tours.

Watching on the tv is nothing like the real thing which is probably why the thread on the euro away tickets has gone on for nearly 100 pages now as most discussing that subject are desperate to be able to carry on doing away games in at least some capacity.

My season ticket is £380 - I buy two pints* per game (19x£8) + £5 travel to the game - I hardly get to aways as I dont have enough points and cant afford the time off for Euro games I cant get tickets to.

I use my free pint token and free pie token!

My total spend at City is somewhere around £530 for league games, I am in the Cup schemes to add another £150 for Champs League (if we get through the group) and maybe £45 or more for home cup games plus some beers....£700-800?

No wonder the club want corporates who will pay my entire annual spend for one match ticket! :)

*sometimes I go really over board and have a third!

lets say 4/5 pints per game, 40 games....somewhere south of £500 per season. Mind, you I'm only crossing the road to my local.

Err fucking plenty, honest i have no idea but one away match in europe if i could get hold of a gentleman who sells recreational substances i could do 800 quid in easy with a few lads, few beers and a few lines and a purchase of 'i must have that thing' and that is just spending money. I like a nice hotel so that would cripple me also, if i am to have a hangover i want to be throwing up on black slate floors and mirrored walls damnit!

I've no idea how so many can do it.....given the cost, family life and work commitments?
I don't have the responsibility of a wife or kids but even so i stopped going to away games that cost into the £40s years ago out of principal. No way should a football fan be charged more than that for a match and anyone doing so was a fool making it worse for everyone as prices were and would have continued to rocket just because there were people paying it. Luckily we worked hard to stamp out these ridiculous away ticket prices but look at the price of home tickets as well. £750 for my SC, that's £39.47. You'd think £30 per match on a SC would be reasonable but City have been upping and upping it all the time (bar this season). Then the cups games are extra. As SPIDERBOY showed, the cost of getting to these games and everything around it is huge as well.

It's a huge lay-out being a football fan and i can see why people get pissed off with their clubs (even if they have an owner like ours) when fans' loyalty is preyed on or even worse dismissed as if it's not important.
