The Daily Mirror will go BUMP in 2009

Would not be unhappy to see the back of the Mirror].

I think some of the criticism of the MEN is a bit unfair, they are dammed if they do, and damned if they don’t, we all hate reading about the rags but have to face the facts it is a local newspaper so it is going to happen.

They supported the “Save our Sven” campaign, alright it was ill advised and made a few look like tits, but I thought it was a nice gesture.

The only criticism I do have is when clicking on the site sometimes you are greeted with Ronaldo in advertisements well out of order.

Good post that pal

Best news all day, can't stand that rag. I've hated (and boycotted) the Mirror since Foe.

why what happened with foe?

They printed pictures of him on the front page after his heart attack. Inexcusable IMO.

On an unrelated point what the fuck are the Daily Mail with this article

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1105695/The-shopping-list-City-boss-Hughes-starts-work-Eastlands-Galacticos.html?ITO=1490" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... l?ITO=1490</a>

The key point of note is "To plug that right back slot, Hughes could pull off a masterstroke and offer Gary Neville both regular football and the captaincy, but a more likely target would be Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, a defender who's never afraid to power forward and would be a snip at around £20m."

Guys don't worry about the Daily Mirror I work at the M.E.N and have seen there readership and sales figures. If they make it to the end of 2009 it will be a miracle!!!!

Trinity Mirror's shares and The Daily & Sunday Mirror are worthless.

What a **** you are making a statement that would see your co-workers made redundant.

No newspaper man would glory in seeing a paper go under.

If anyone on here doesnt know the Mirror prints the MEN

You're talking absoloute bollocks there mate, all our statistics are monitored by industry standard auditors!

Plus we have the biggest online network in Greater Manchester, so we are quite happy at the fact that more advertising is leaning towards online.

In terms of giving away free newspapers, of course it generates better readership figures. it benefits both the reader and advertiser.

If we continually mislead people they wouldn't continue to advertise with us.

LoL have you seen channel M or been on the dreadful jobsmine site? RBI and others own GMG when it comes to online media, the reason why GMG are hitting the panic button!

According to the latest ABC figures Dannydale, maybe it's you who should be lookinf for a new job.

Daily Mirror year on year sales: 1,400,206, down 7.8 per cent. Third biggest daily behind the Sun and Mail.
Sunday Mirror year on year sales: 1,255,150, down 7.6 per cent. Third biggest Sunday newspaper behind the NOTW and MOS.

Meanwhile, the Manchester Eveing News circulation is 161,545. This makes it the country's largest regional newspaper. Impressive until you learn that 52.2% of its circulation are newspapers given away free.

Both the Liverpool Echo and Wolverhampton Star SELL more than 100,000 copies a day.

The MEN figures are piss poor given Manchester is a world-class city with two huge football teams as well as Bolton and Wigan on the doorstep.

Like I said Dannydale, get the cv ready.

Well said! Keep giving away those free papers and relying on ripping off local authorities for advertising!

I work in advertising (hence I know a little about readership figures) and I sometimes have to deal with both national and regional newspapers.

What annoys me is someone from the MEN having a go at anybody because I have watched with horror at how the newspaper has gone into terminal decline.

The MEN is an absolute joke. I remember the days of Gardner and Meek, when the MEN was the must-read newspaper for every football fan in Manchester so I can't stomach anyone trying to portray it now as a serious publication. It is a free rag - and a poorly produced free rag at that.

All they do is follow up stories that have been in the daily newspapers or online. After seeing the sports editor on television, the man is clearly an idiot.
