Just doing a bit of reflection and a few years have gone by now. I know this has been done 1,000 times but did not know which thread to put this in:
Yaya's goal against the rags in the FA Cup semi felt like the pivotal moment for me. So much built up emotion and so much energy. It felt like everything after this moment was inevitable, all the way up to the Treble. Yaya also had an unbelievable way of making it look like he was playing with toddlers in the park.
So good to see City in their traditional kit: sky blue shirts, white shorts, sky blue socks with maroon tops. For me, that is City. Only the socks ‘modernised’.I was there on the day,and I've seen the goal over and over, but it's only on today's viewing ,after all those years....that I truly appreciate the deft ball ball control of Yaya ...he ran to press Carrick immediately, weighed up the situation in a blink of an eye, intercepted the pass....but didn't just stop the pass,he cooly cushioned the ball with his first touch which was so brilliant....,which then gave him the momentum to get a head of steam to run at the last defender....his whole movement anticipation, quick thinking and fantastic ball control turned a defensive press into a glorious scoring opportunity in the blink of an eye.
I really am in awe of the delicate touch of such a big man, moving at high speed.
What a player!!
What a goal.
Fantastic memories.
May he live a long and incontinent life with all his facultiesJust glad the pisscan is still breathing to see us dominate the cunts for over a decade ,long may he suffer.
Ah yes. We've heard the clock tick many times, and that would be the ultimate tock. The only thing missing is them getting relegated again
I hope so. We may have bigger fish to fry in the overall picture, but beating them means a lot to so many fans. If you don't understand local rivalry then football isn't for you.that utter determination by our players to beat them in a game doesn't seem to have been there recently.
i have a feeling it will return this season.
Indeed, but the goal and red card knocked the stuffing out of them.Easy to forget that they battered us for 30 mins that day.
Til Mancini told the back four to step up and stop being so scared.
The rest is history.
The same sort of abcess Alan Brazil still suffers from after the 81 semi finalAn open wound that still festers inside and outside with Ferdinand. We are like an abcess that will never heal for him or their supporters.
What a fecking shame:-)
To paraphrase a certain individual "we knocked them of their fucking perch! "the tables have well and truly changed...
the rags are now mid-table at best, like we used to be.
we are dining at the top table, like they used to do.
fuck 'em!
I thought it was about the first 20 minutes, when they probaby should've scored a couple.Easy to forget that they battered us for 30 mins that day.

It would be great if someone could like that clip to watch it againMystic Mike likes this thread
The turning point for me was his after match comments that afternoon at the swamp
It had all the hallmarks of a pre derby Mike Doyle about it. Going right out there and telling the world to smell the coffee hijacking a global media rag show
That's how i remember the game.I thought it was about the first 20 minutes, when they probaby should've scored a couple.
I always say the turning point was when Gareth Barry had that shot that hit the side netting. That seemed to put us on the front foot and they looked second-best from then on.
