The Decline in Numbers, of British Mammals.

The beginnings of an Alpaca herd on the Spencer estate

My mate had over one hundred Alpacas, he farmed them for the wool and stud fees. I was there when they got sheared and their hooves trimmed and cleaned. That is something to see, they spit at everyone and turn into a screaming demon. The guy in charge was from England as I remember, he travelled all round the world shearing

Fallow Deer...
I'm not certain he’s on the Spencer estate the write up is by Adey A, presumably the conservationist.

“I believe this one is full Axis or Chital, whichever name you wish to call them. I've photographed bigger heads on them in India and Sri Lanka, especially the brow tines, but he's not too bad”

My wife and I go up to The Lakes quite regularly, sometimes stopover other times set off very early and enjoy the scenery before the world wakes up. Usually avoid the main roads. We've seen loads of deer and other wildlife.
Yesterday had the surprise of our lives when a pine marten ran out in front of us, then span around and disappeared back into the hedge it had appeared from. We weren't sure what it was. We've seen stoats etc before but this was much bigger with a bushier tail. We stopped at Lakeside and consulted google. Images confirmed it was a pine marten.
I thought they only lived in the wild in Scotland but in the last couple of years 13 have been reintroduced to the Lakes near Rusland Valley and Grizedale. We were near Graythwaite on the east side of Windermere which is close to Rusland Valley. Don't ever expect to see one again but without doubt the rarest animal we've seen in the wild.

Otters galore in the ribble/wyre

Deer all over daisy nook/littlemoss/ashton/audenshaw/droylsden...even down to edge lane

My neighbor told me she saw a coyote walk through my property today in broad daylight, 10:30 am. I heard them really close by last night while we were sitting round the fire but never seen one in town in daylight before
