A death row pardon two minutes too late.

Now that's ironic.

Those aren't ironic just unfortunate and bad timing.

Surely it must be suicide? Nobody can drive that slowly towards a cliff and not notice.
also the fact that he donated 10 mill to charity just before he died is a bit suspicious. just food for thought.

Or someone tampered with it like that very unfunny bit with the jetski on Only Fools and Horses?

In my head it went something like this...

That's my donations done. I know my 20 year old wife didn't like me doing it but hey ho. I like to give to charity. Now...let's take the old 'seg' for a drive. Oooh...i love it up here, so close to nature, bombing along at 12 miles an hour. Hold on, i can't turn. WHAT'S GOING ON? Won't somebody help? I can't turn. HELP. I'm out of control. Oh god, it's the cliff. I can't turn. HELP. How do i stop it? Shit, brakes failed. Oh god, i'm going over the cliff. Maybe at this speed i'll just land in the water. That will work. Aaaargh. Oh no. Not fast enough.

Motson used the word irony to mean coincidently. A man whose stock in trade was words not understanding the meaning of the word he was using. Oh the irony.
