The delap throw...

Our mini-series with Stoke was one of the most excruciating things I've endured as a football fan.

Ok browny........we will come back next season and "see where we are"......
........if thats ok with you like????? Seems you've got no choice though kidda.........or am i wrong???

Feel free mate. You'll stay up this season, obviously even a genius like yourself can figure that one out, with I reckon somewhere between 40-42 points. But on what basis do you think you'll be able to sustain your stay in the prem? You've not got any players of any real quality, your manager is not great especially when things go against him, and tbh your support has always been a bit iffy. When you inevitably start shipping goals they'll turn and you know it.
Yeah of course i know it know it all........but we have no players of real quality do we???....like Etherington ,Whelan, Lawrence, Tuncay, Kitson and Fuller?? Oh yeah, sorry they are shite arn't they in comparison to the great Man Citeh personnel that you've assembled with limited resources.

-- Fri Mar 12, 2010 2:23 am --

EH

Lots of players take 20-30 seconds standing around, looking around, walking up the sideline, etc, before throwing the ball in. The thing that shits me is that Delap gets a towel. Who else uses a towel? Most players use their shirt. He shouldn't be allowed a towel in my opinion.

No, you've not got any players of real quality. They are championship standard at best and if you think they aren't then it does, again, demonstrate that you don't understand the prem. You're not the new wimbledon, they were half decent, whereas you are not.

Your players are currently over achieving, it won't last forever, because if it did they wouldn't be playing for you.

What a stupid fucking dumb comment.....So much so that i have to chuckle at you nievety you silly little turd!!!!

So we have a load of championship players struggling to establishing themselves in the prem then do we???? Fuck me we should be in the championship then eh??

Just calm down, relax and understand that stoke city are now a premiership football team.....

EXACTLY!

Would be nice if a team actually CLOCKED HIM and had one of their players just stand on the sideline for the EXACT same amount of time....while they are a goal ahead! See how agitated Pulis gets if THAT happens!!! :D

Its naive, which is you all over son. If you're going to use words at least understand their meaning and spell them correctly.

I never said they were struggling, I said they were over achieving, which putting it simply my six fingered friend means that they are currently finding that ickle, ickle bit more for that nice Mr Pulis. Come the end of the season when they think they are proper big boy footballers they'll ask for pay rises which you can't afford. You'll either go into hock to pay them and they'll never be the same players again or you'll let them go and they drift off into football oblivion like your club will.

Stoke as premier league club, just. Stoke, a premier league team? You're having a laugh.

We'd probably get carded or something :P

Mate, no need to argue with him, he demonstrated the fact that he's mainly a tennis fan when he claimed that Ricardo Fuller had talent.

Ricardo Fuller has 'talent' in the same way that overdosing on anti-diarrhoeal drugs is still technically 'overdosing'. Whilst the amounts may work towards children, it is that minuscule in adults that it just leaves you full of shit.

If you've got it, use it.

What I don't like is that the commentator said that Stokes pitch was reduced in width to suit the throw-in and their style of play. Is it just me that thinks that is an unfair advantage? I know pitches are different sizes but surely they should be kept the same size where possible.

It's like a goalkeeper putting bin lids on the back of his gloves to make his hands bigger.

No probs with Stoke using Delaps throw ins as a tactic. If you've got an effective weapon in your armoury you bloody well use it!

My problem is, week in & week out, supposedly world class defenders being unable to cope with it. That is bloody ridiculous.

Ok Delap has a long throw now I am no football coach/manager but why don't they put one of the tallest players right on the by line in front of Delap like in our case Adebayor who could jump up and down before his throw to put Delap off.

City fell victim to his throws and we seem not to have a clue how to deal with it, managers should know the oppositions strenghts and have a plan of action but City just gave Stoke the time and the room.

But we dealt with it so well at the home game last season, (Robbie hat trick,) with Joe in goal and just a handful of defenders around our box. No panic, and then a counter-attack when Joe dealt with the throw.

We the fans took the piss out of the Stoke contingent by waving our arms over our heads and mimicking their encouraging noise when Dewdrop was preparing his throws.

I can't think why the players who played then, didn't mention this to Mancini during his many training sessions?

To be fair if you have a player who can deliver a long throw then you use him. Any side would. The thing I don't like is the way their fans react when they get a throw in and how they seem to base their whole team set up around set pieces!
