The Detectives: Fighting Organised Crime

Just watched it and the saying crime doesn’t pay seems to fit with this bunch of scruffy cunts!!

They are too thick to see it. Even if they taxed £100,000 that's about £20,000 each IF it's split equally. Then taking the minimum sentence that's 4-9 years inside the shithole that is prison for less than £5,000 a year. That's before the poc team go through all their assets with a fine tooth comb and take what they can't prove to have earned legally. Then you get kid looking up to these mugs. They should be looking up to the real heroes, their parents, who get up early everyday and graft to feed and cloth them and keep them in a safe environment.

Nail on head.... going off on a tangent slightly, I hate it when a footballer fucks up and we get the ‘he’s a role model’ bollocks. As you say it’s parents, teachers etc who should be idolised for what they give.

The problem is reporting on good decent people doesn't sell films, newspapers, books or get clicks on websites. A footballer caught shagging someone, or this bunch of thugs in a documentary does.

They need to try and instill it into kids from a very young age. Identify the at risk ones and intervene. If the kid is at home with drug taking/dealing violent parents by the time he's ten he's probably a lost cause. The lad in the channel 4 documentary was smoking cannabis at the age of 8. Fucking eight! We have seen it get gradually worse in the last thirty years, if we don't do something about it God knows what the future holds.

24 hours in police custody just been shown on channel 4. Some drug dealing young lad shooting at random strangers and almost killed an innocent Polish lad who'd just popped into an off licence. Listening to him he's obviously mentally unstable and a common theme running through these stories is a pretty abusive chaotic childhood in which he never got any help, in spite of injuries being seen on him at the age of four. Massive failures. Whatever the reasons, he was compos mentis enough to store and sell drugs and firearms and be a father to two children. He rightly got 22 years and six months and hopefully he can get some counseling inside and try and reform
Yeah, just watched that. He'll be in his late 30s when he's eligible for parole. It's a difficult one...is he a product of a bad society? So glad he didn't kill anybody but I felt so sorry for the young Polish lad ...he ended up going back to Poland. Shame really.

missing out on seeing his kids grow up. Tragic all round.

It certainly didn't help, smoking weed from the age of eight and it sounds like no real childhood to speak of. Tragic really but you can't have someone like that running around the streets. He'll probably end up getting sectioned.

I thought they might had sectioned him earlier...but then he kind of appeared normal at the end. Some kind of rage had been building up from his childhood. He would probably have gone on to do far worse.

A loose cannon, putting a gun to the woman's head, shooting a random bloke and firing at others. He's obviously mentally unstable. He could have killed a few people that night. He will possibly never be released unless he improves, but I fear he might top himself too.

The role model fluff came into prominence because it was being pushed by tabloid newspapers pushing back at attempts to restrict them from reporting details about footballer's private lives. Apart for commercial reasons, I don't think there are many who footballers who have embraced being a public role model.

These days the only "organised criminals" involved in violence are the thickest of the thick. The more intelligent ones are now in fraud where there is next to zero chance of getting prosecuted and, if lightening should strike, they are treated as "white collar" criminals, given light sentences and serve time in an open prison.

In May, I'll have done 40 years investigating fraud including a stint at the SFO and I've watched the dynamic change from "gentleman" fraudsters (still parasites) to what I call "financial psychopaths" when I'm training investigators. These are people without a shred of conscience and an absolute cancer on society.

And people talk about fraud as if it is a victimless crime. Every day I deal with people who have lost their life savings or pensions. Imagine working for 40 years looking forward to doing all those things you couldn't do when you were working. And when you get there, every penny you have is conned out of you in an investment fraud to fund someone else's extravagant lifestyle. Imagine your thoughts when you wake up every morning having to scratch a living for the rest of your life. That's a terrible form of violence, just not one you can see.

And it's increasingly out of control in this country.

Totally agree mate, the pension one is particularly heartbreaking. Instead of a comfortable life after years of hard work scratching to exist on a state pension, probably no holidays and treats.

On a slightly different track it was similar to the Spanish land grab that robbed thousands of a retirement in the sun and worse didn't give them any money for doing so.

Watched the first one on iplayer, as long as they are killing each other I dont give a shit. Thought it very telling when the copper asked for a big strong copper to help when Paris was been interviewed, surely equal rights they could've got one of the women!
