I was thinking Nery Castillo, who.had an incredible showreel but flopped during his brief time at City. However, he was largely unknown.
But in terms of high profile it's got to be Mike Channon, who was presumably bought on the strength of a photograph. He was better suited to being a big fish in a small pond.

Steve Daley given the size of the transer at the time, I always forget about him when thinking of big money signings, cant remember much about his time with us, other than fee and he came from Wolves.....I think?

Did mcgoldrick make his debut at sheff united away? Seem to link him to that game for some reason, could be wrong though as I would have been about 9 at the time.
