Will this display finally educate those in the media who seem obsessed with saying De Jong, Barry & Yaya all play as defensive midfielders ?

If I hear just one of them say it again, I'll send them a video of today's match and see if they can figure it out for themselves.

At times today I thought Tevez was playing in the hole BEHIND YAYA ! (OK, I'm exaggerating a little, but you get the idea)

not until we play like that with some kind of consistency. We've done it against Liverpool and now Fulham. I assume if we struggle at Stoke we'll be back to where we were a few days ago.

But we do play with at least 3 defensive midfielders..

It's not as if Barry was the furthest player forwards, attempting to get meet a cross, on one or two occasions.

...

If we play like today then it is the end of it.

If we play like most other games this season then it won't be the end of it.

We don't play with 3 defensive midfielders, never did.

The result and performance today doesn't change that one way or the other.

What performances like today will do if people persist in peddling this myth, is get every other manager in the league thinking "why aren't I doing the same".

Have to laugh at the likes of Dixon and at least three other pundits with the "Yaya played much further forward than I have seen before" almost as if to try and vindicate previous weeks when they said our central 3 doesn't work as it is too negative.

what doesnt work is when you play all 4 of dejong yaya barry and milner ...one of milner or barry for me will have to sit out every week.

vs fulham we played with an extra attack minded player (Jo) instead of one of those two and it helped create a lot of space for tev (just like it did when balo played vs wba)

id like to see that midfield with either balo tev and ade or a combo of the 3

Andy Gray, Martin Tyler and Jamie Rednapp discovered it today too.

I always thought 'experts' went home watched all the week's games so they'd know what they were talking about (except Merson obviously). But none of these guys has ever watched us lately, clearly, as that was exactly the same formation as other games, most notably W Brom when Yaya was also outstsnding.

Well that's up to you isn't it.

But you are right about consistency. That performance has to be the aim, but we also have to recognise that more often than not teams will concentrate on closing City down, and getting men behind the ball. If that happens, and you don't get an early goal, the game can develop very differently

what the last 2 away games have shown is the quality of football City can play, and that a Mancini City can play some very good football. And Yaya Toure can play in an advanced role
