The energy crisis: what is the solution?

It is and Australia may have elevated itself to the heights of the much superior New Zealand.

Australia like wales but with jet lag and spiders.
Bogans, kev Walker and itchy grubs, the place is full of cunts

Clearly it is paramount for countries to have a secure energy supply as the current reliance on countries that are essentially enemies is a disaster.

What should be the long term solution? My opinion is that nuclear generated energy should be the top priority and The Telegraph are reporting tonight that as well as multiple new nuclear power stations being built by 2050 the government is looking at lots of mini nuclear reactors being built by Elon Musk far sooner. In addition, I'd definitely look at fracking as an option and we need to bin Net Zero immediately.

I'd imagine this doesn't square with most eco warriors world view but the current events injects an urgent dose of painful reality into the equation.
In just ten seconds, the Sun gives us enough energy to power the entire planet for 24 hours.

Yet we’re still burning fossil fuels… in the 2020s!

We can land spacecraft on another planet yet we can’t efficiently harness free unlimited supplies of energy to power our own.

You would think there would be a strategy to get solar panels on top of every house in the United Kingdom.

Nuclear plus renewables. All nationalised industry creating vast wealth and job opportunities. Ammend building regs to make every rooftop in the country clad in solar panels.
You can get 30 million times more energy from a nuclear burning device than a fossil fuel burning device.

Every newly built house should have solar pannelled roofs and a mini wind turbine to power themselves.

For older houses the government should provide grants to do upgrades, and not loft insulation, proper upgrades to power homes, like air pumps and solar.

Though if all our homes were powered mainly by themselves and renewables energy created, big business wouldn't make as much profits so this will bever happen.

While energy production and distribution is a private enterprise based on profit we are all screwed.

One thing that needs to go is this romantacised idea that our landscape was so beautiful in the past that solar farms and wind farms mar the view.

A century ago our country was covered in smog and polluted air, the hills and valleys people say would look ugly on the skyline with a load of turbines on them couldn't even be seen through the brown haze of thick industrlial air

This topic has been has been discussed multiple times before. When renewables can generate energy then we can supply 100% of demand it happens more regularly than people think, the problem is when they can't which is generally when demand is highest in a climate like what we have in the UK.
Energy storage seriously needs development, the best options for long term storage are liquified compressed air storage and green hydrogen. Neither are very energy efficient in their conversion process but if generate an excess of energy then store it whilst you can.
Regardless of if people like it or not, Nuclear will still need to remain part of the mix to ensure energy security.

We’ve made a complete irreversible mess of our countryside by chopping down nearly all the woodland on this entire island. Our countryside is now nearly a completely bleak looking blank canvas. A few wind turbines and solar panels might add a bit of character to it!

Solar panels wind energy garden energy!

The solution are there but do government want it?!

Look at this only just seen something like this has no idea about it.

Yep most people don’t have a garden but come on as if someone can’t come up with something similar safe for in a loft house.

Solar, wind, Tidal and nuclear is the future although any romantic notions of fossil fuels disappearing anytime soon are pie in the sky I’m afraid.

Repopulating our forests is something we need to crack on with, I would start with trafford, knock down that shithole swamp and trafforrd park and also the wanky shopping centre and plant trees on both sites meeting in the middle

Can't beat that. In addition nuclear fusion is a possibility. A test reactor, about one third operational size, is in the early stages of planning.
