The Etihad Pitch

If , fingers crossed we win the league after losing half the team to Covid ,playing large parts of the season with no recognized striker on a dreadfully muddy cabbage patch of a pitch that allows kick and rush cloggers like Wolves ,United and Wham to negate our wonderfully skillful team. Being reffed to a different standard than other teams every week by what seems to be a cross between Terry Christian and Stevie Wonder ....What’s the chances we will still get money jibes and zero credit?

The Academy pitch looks and plays far better than the Etihad at the moment, and it's had 4 games on it this week alone, Sun, Mon, Wed, and Fri, still looked good at the end of tonight's game, not to mention 17 goals (18 if you include brums tonight) in 6 days.

Could we not play our games at the academy stadium whilst giving the etihad stadium a rest keeping it it good condition for the champions league games where a better surface will enhance our passing game

It's highly likely that we'll not play another CL game at the Etihad sadly.
Lol, why not? Others played their games at their homes, it just depends on our opponents and the quarantine rules of their country

I seem to remember on the stadium tour a couple years back, there was a mention that the grass is interwoven with synthetic fibres so I imagine it's a right ball-ache to replace.

Was just about to say the same thing, the tour claimed it was resilient to all conditions, no other club had such technology, memory useless but did it come from Scandinavia.
Anyway it’s ended up as bad a weave job as that Fat Bastard at Derby by the looks of things

We could roll shaw up and down it a few times to get rid of any bumps.

The surface is the second oldest in the Premier League and City had planned for last summer to be free of concerts so the issue could be assessed properly, but the coronavirus pandemic extended the season into the summer and left room for only minor remedial work.

The issue was compounded by playing the 2020-21 season virtually straight after the previous one and the terrible weather which has blighted Manchester since the end of autumn.

If external ground operators can access the stadium this summer, the work will be done and Guardiola will have a pitch that meets his standards.

but why does he mention them?

Just say the pitch has cut up and it is a bit poor.

It wasn't that long ago that the scummy cunts had sand all over their failing pitch
I'm guess he mentioned the rags pitch as it's in the same area give or take the name of the City so would be under the same weather conditions.

He's probably pissed off it's not suitable for our type of play.

The playing schedule won’t have helped. It’s not usual to play 4 home games in quick succession.

There’s a gap now so hopefully it can recover a bit.

Funny you mention that, the bloke taking the tour did say the pitch had more artificial fibres than Wayne Rooney's scalp.
