Is anyone really shocked by this? I'm not. Lots of kids take drugs these days, lots. What's happening though is that drugs are getting stronger and stronger all the time and that's a danger for young bodies that won't be able to handle that.

Things like legal highs as well, those taking them have no idea what the long term effects are - they have no previous generation who had taken them to learn from so they're literally guinea pigs.

You're totally right the parents should. Unfortunately a lot don't and that's not necessarily bad parents. My Mum and Dad were great parents but we never spoke about drugs other than to say don't take them. To be fair as far as I know they never took them so how can they educate me when they only know what they get told? Kids should be taught about drugs in school, the highs the lows the risks etc. so they can make an informed decision whether they want to take them, and thus take them in a safe manner.

Alcohol is a lethal drug! I support a lot of alcoholics and there seems to be a lot of snobbery and looking down noses at drug users. They're killing themselves and taking benefits to feed the habit but because they haven't "broke any laws" it's ok

Kids have always done daft shit, I'm amazed I made 20 and I have great parents. A lot of kids don't listen to parents, teachers and especially politicians. They listen to other kids. Who you hang out with is the biggest reason for the decisions you make.

Spot on! Most my mates were and still are pretty level headed, it was only till I started college I started doing stupid shit like taking drugs!

Also people totally go overboard with alcohol, being violently sick is a massive warning sign that you are poisoning yourself, silly humans, myself included ( well I've not drank in 3 years )
 
I've always hated adrenaline rushes and always wanted to keep a clear head so ive never done any drugs except Pharmaceutical ones. Glad of it to be honest. But kids are easily influenced and they're all at it these days, its mad!
