The Farmers Protests in London

Ive read about this a lot in another thread at the time, cant remember which now. Was it the Far Right thread? Sure this has been done to death anyway, somewhere.

Personally I think it shouldnt, scraped or scrapped. Why do you think it should? Its always been there btw

Your parents work hard to build a business or just to be able to afford a nice house. They pay for it using their wages that have been taxed.
When your parents pass the government says we will have some of that house.
I just don't see why the government can take money from people's inheritance.
When I pass (if I had any) I want 100% of my wealth to go to my kids not the government. I've paid my taxes on the money that bought the house.

Mate, they also think the same if they’re honest but right now, they have to back their “side” and farmers are a new enemy in the class war that rages in their heads.

Make no mistake, if the Tories did this to farmers they would be apoplectic with rage over it such is their hypocrisy.

But you've not paid taxes on the capital gain. Which would be the vast majority of it

This was all covered in the other thread. Farm land is highly unproductive when compared to the land values. But the land values have been inflated due to their tax exemption status.

Large estates have been put together by already wealthy people buying up farmland as a tax avoidance vehicle.

I deliver to farms (postman) and if they're not raking it in by converting all their barns into posh housing for posh twats that dont like to live amongst the rest of us, they are driving around in one of their 5 top range cars.
I do live in cheshire so maybe it is more of a thing here but approx 1 in 10 farms (even less I think) are run down and in need of help. Sorry I just dont see the poverty they are describing.

Agree. I live out in the sticks surrounded by farms. Most of the farmers you see in the fields are paid employees, they don't own shit. Most farm land is rented by active farms from rich land owners who have never been near a tractor.

The active farms will take a hit but so does every other small / medium business when the owner dies.
