The FOC thread.

Absolutely spot on pal, I've got fantastic neighbours though now, immediate ones are a London lad of Nigerian descent married to an Ashton lass, they're moving shortly to an 800k pad, we'll miss them. My other immediate is a Polish girl (74) who is lovely, Marissa, best neighbours we've ever had.
We’ve lived on Street we’re on now for over 1/4 of a century I know girl next door who’s hubby did one shagging sommat else(don’t miss the rag twat) and next door but one lad I use play Sunday morning footy with who’s now got a form of Alzheimer’s. The rest are more on nodding terms.

Our neighbours are all totally unadapted southerners these days - the two millionaires in the mansions at the bottom of our back garden are currently competing as to who can have the biggest indoor swimming pool. It's madness.

My earlyemories are typified by my umccle Pat who teguularly came for Sunday tea bearing a tin of salmon telling me he would buy me something called a banana when the war (ww2) wS over.
Couple this with my dad telling me that as rar as football was concerned I am and always will be City supporter because anyone could follow United bit it was character building to follow City.
Many other memories of the 40s and early 50 s but these 2 stand out.

You were posh in Adswood, was there a pub there called the Old Cock or something along those lines? Old Cock would be appropriate for this thread :-).
The Greyhound on Councillor Lane was briefly renamed The Gamecock before becoming a private housing estate. Same fate befell The Wembley after being renamed The Doubloon then quickly demolished to become a care home. The Adswood Hotel has just been turned into one as well. Only The Cross Keys left and its bowling green became a block of flats years ago.

That's the one, the Gamecock, I worked for William Hill Bookmakers back in the 80's, never actually worked in the Adswood branch but used to visit there to do security checks on cash in hand, floats, etc, all pretty boring really but Adswood was up there with having a few characters.
