When I was a little kid you could buy one in one of those little triangular sweetie bags. They were 2d and Mrs. Andrews who owned the shop used to say "are you sure it's for your Mum?" before handing the bag over......

We used to buy singles from our newsagents and share em on the paper round

It was just a red and white scarf, but I wasn't letting go of it. Bit of a tug of war for a few seconds then he buggered off.

I was pleased with my defiance as a 7 or 8 year old.

"It was just a red and white scarf"....

If I'd even thought about having a red and white scarf when I was a nipper, my mam and dad would have put me in an orphanage.

Whoever tried to nick it was trying to do you a favour.
