The FOC thread.

Apologies mate I'd never heard of the yam ss50! I thought you'd got confused as we focs sometimes do :-)
Honda MT50, 2 stroke, factory gearing and reeds it managed 30ish, after-market bits (reeds and sprockets) it was into the forties.

I had a yamaha dt50 mx at 16.
I loved that bike, the previous owner had tuned it, had an aftermarket pipe on it, went really well. Once saw 54mph on the clock, with me lying flat on the tank slipstreaming a lorry lol.
Used to take it off road, on the abandoned open cast mines in stoke. Happy days.

You can still get them but with less meat than that photo. I know they're shite but I love them and always have a few in stock. My kids and mum all love them too.
They do a breakfast one and a cheese Macaroni one too
But I am sticking with my mincemeat version.
They also started doing a chicken gravy which is nice too

I was about to post about the 4-stroke Honda too, so we've both learned something there.

I turned 16 in late '77, so was still able to find a newish unrestricted Suzuki AP50 capable of 62mph, with two up. Quite a luxury having a separate oil tank and not having to put a couple of squirts in like my Fizzie mates. I was so grateful to Dad for stopping me signing my life away on a brand-new (but 30mph-restricted) FS1E.

Incredible times - life-changing, being so independent, and with pothole-free, under-crowded roads to enjoy.

I also gave my school bus-pass away to a friend who lived just inside the 3-mile boundary - he was almost more pleased with that than I was with my bike :-) !

NHS News.
I was told today that my high dependency bed was required for a new inmate, so I was jocked off to a lower level:
Private room with en suite toilet (though I still need a nurse to help me use it), tv, washing facilities etc. Level of care is through the roof.
NHS is going to wrack and ruin! Bit boring with no traffic, though.

I vividly remember my first day on the road on my dt.
16th birthday, Jan 83.
I shot off down the road...without my helmet on. I'd forgotten to put it on in all the excitement.
I went everywhere on that bike, you're right, it was life changing. We used to cycle for miles but by god once we all got mopeds we'd be off to Rhyl, blackpool, Buxton etc, places that were out of reach suddenly were doable.
Used to take my girlfriend on the back (illegally lol) and we'd go to country pubs we knew where they would serve us even though we were both underage. No one seemed to bother.
The roads then were a lot quieter, and people generally had good road manners. If you came off it was usually your own fault.
These days when I ride it seems like everyone wants to kill you.
Good times back then.

A homely girl named Lisa
Couldn't get a geezer,
Her mother told her
darling don't you cry
You could knock 'edown like skittles
with some farinaceous vittles.......
Sorry but not quite a limerick, though. :-)

How about:
There once was a woman named Lisa
Who never could find a good geezer
She started to cry
But bought a Holland's meat pie
And said "until such time as I can actually meet a bloke and bring him home for dinner I'll just keep the damn thing in the freezer."
