Why did Labour give the Scots their noddy parliament if they can interfere still with English matters when they want?

It was a Labour populist measure designed to get votes in Scotland, and like many Labour policies it was poorly thought out and looks like causing a real mess after the election.

I imagine some day in the far flung future we will discover that Clegg and the Lib Dems managed to stop some horrendously Tory policies over the past 4 years and all might make a bit more sense (burning the poor to help fund tax breaks on caviar, or something similarly ludicrous), but as it stands he absolutely destroyed both his and his parties credibility and reputation, possibly beyond all repair. As a member of his actual constituency, it was a terrible betrayel to even go into a coalition with the party that couldn't be further from what the people who voted for them wanted. They will need someone truly inspirational to ever give them any plausibility as a party ever again, as they have proven that you genuinely have no idea who you are voting for if you back them.

Said at the time being in a Coalition would destroy them , talk of Clegg losing his seat , do you think this will happen?
Possibly, Labour are really trying hard but they never win here. I've had Labour election guff through my door about 2 or 3 times a week for the past month or so, so they clearly think they've got a chance. Lib Dems have won by miles around here for the past decade or so, so he'd have to do really badly to lose over half his voters to Labour. The conservatives only stand a chance if no one turns up, as they always get the same amount of votes, it's hrd to see anyone jumping ship from Lib Dems to Conservatives

Are you a Unionist or an English Nationalist?

Or just here to slag off Labour at every opportunity?

The Socialists gambled on being in power in Porridge land forever , I doubt anyone including the Krankie thought the SNP would wipe the Socialists out.

Say whut?
Your hero Dave to give staff in companies with more than 250 employees the right to take up to three days paid leave a year doing volunteer work, if he wins the election.
Institute of Directors don't like it.

And the game changing lady is ? ( and I'm not talking about Maggie).

Not quite - biggest intervention today came in the form of Karren Brady’s appeal for small businesses to vote Tory. Daughter of a millionaire, a baroness who’s indebted to Gideon for the bauble - keep ‘em coming Lynton, you’re doing a fucking great job! A week ago I couldn’t see anything but a Tory win, but with the current rate of fucking idiots the Tories are lining up to plead for the electorate’s vote, you know what, Ed might win this. And if he does, Karren, take your letter, add it to the one signed by the large business community (Tory donors - over 9 million quid) and wave us all a cheery “goodbye” as you take your thieving fucking selves off to Monaco/ Switzerland/wherever you won’t be required to do your bit for the good of the nation.

The Tories - comedy gold.

I suspect you will be crying come Election Day. I. Think Mr Cameron will win a majority. At the end of the day, folk vote for themselves and the Conservatives offer the best option

Ron, as I said, a week ago, it was a no-brainer: Cameron couldn’t and wouldn’t lose. But, these last two days have seen a distinct shift in coverage. The Tories have become very personal. I expect the tripe churned out by The Sun, Mail, Telegraph etc, but the personal attacks from Tory MPs, allied to the utter bollocks such as Hunt’s plea for the NHS to not be used politically, has shown some chinks in the Tory armour.

I won’t be crying election day. I may the day after though. And it may not be for the reasons you allude to.

Seems there's a fair few here think the Tories will win an outright majority, we should start a book, we'd make a killing.

I'll give it a rest myself tonight.
Gardeners World and HIGNFY on the tele soon.

The problem I have with the Tories at the moment is that they are not being honest about the levels of cuts they are planning to many public services, I know there was a lot of fat at the beginning but many services including the police and most Local Government are down to the bone now, and it will be really noticeable to people who otherwise would not notice

The cuts to adult social care have had a knock on effect that A & E departments are inundated with elderly people who have no help or assistance at home, and this effects us all as beds are now being blocked, so they are robbing Peter to pay Paul, however Paul has not really been funded to cope, that's just one example there are many others such as Children's Services having to cut back essentially being a service of last resort (when the child is harmed or neglected) rather than prevention and it will only get worse

They also seem to have lost touch with the North, and don't seem to realise the problems this region as a whole faces

However I am not altogether sure that Labour have leant their lessons from the mess they made last time they were in power
