The Great British Rip off

Soft drinks is, and has always been the case, the way any pub makes a huge mark up. 18 quid will buy you a postmix of coca cola which makes 45 litres of drink. Which is nearly 200 half pints. If my maths is correct. Even if they charge 2 pound a half that's still 400 quid. Not a bad mark up.
When I worked in a nightclub many moons ago the manager told be they were paying something like 8p a pint buying in and at the time selling for £3!

When they’ve maxed out their credit cards they may well take stock but it will be too late by then, I’m of the generation were a credit card is for emergency or to be paid off every month. It seems many use it as if it’s free money.
Think you've hit the nail on the head there. I dont believe it will be an abrupt stop to spending, but there will be millions of households maxed to the limit on credit cards and paying it off for the rest of their days by the time we get inflation under control.

Its definitely a generational thing, have got nieces and nephews with good jobs, have their own house, car etc and think nothing of dropping £100s on a designer clothes each month. When you ask them where they get the money, its all on plastic. If they can service the interest payments they seem unworried that they owe thousands.

Myself, id rather be able to sleep on a night.

I am aware, but at some point you do have to pay up. Its interest free for a reason and that reason is to get people into long term debt.
£1200 interest free over 24 months is £50 a month.
Only a dick wouldn’t set up a payment plan.
I use a credit card all the time for the extra protection it affords me.
I pay off every penny, every month.

My receiver on the heating system seems to have gone belly up. I told Mrs Ewing that it wasn't gonna be £25 for a new 'un. Well, it came in at £26-99. Does it clip on the backplate or are there wires? It's wired but a ten min job for a heating engineer. Installation £100. That's £600 an hour. How much of that would the engineer get?

Good point, and not just Spoons. Stonegate, Craft Union and Holt still run good value pubs in Manchester.
I got a pint of Oatmeal Stout in the Sedge Lynn in Chorlton (Wetherspoons) for £1.49 last week.
It tasted great so I decided to really splash out and ordered 3 more.
So I was semi pissed for just under £6 .
Great value for money.
