The Green Party

Why are so many people on this forum far left?

I’m not saying you’re wrong or any party is better, just genuinely wondering why. For me, many of the Green and Labour policies are terrible for us to the point where I’d have to leave the country if I’m taxed any higher. Nobody needs a £40k a year tax bill across two countries.

These parties keep pushing for ‘tax the rich’, but compared to what multinationals should be paying in tax my contribution is minimal. How about Labour et al focus on billionaires and huge businesses instead of taxing ordinary people so much?

I’m no fan of Reform either I hasten to add!

This is a long but interesting watch from a couple of days ago. I think his policy direction might be looking to give you what you're asking for...

Pretty sure that's a fake name he uses and he used to be a self employed boob hypnotherapist.
Shows the standard of politicians we now get.

Self serving bullshitting conmen.
He changed his surname when he was 18 from Paulden to Polanski to restore his familial name that was changed the other way in the twentieth century in order to avoid antisemitism. I think that’s a genuine and laudable reason to do so.

Not sure 40k tax bill and ordinary people belong in the same post tbh.
I would hope any govt could focus on more than one thing at once though.

Can’t answer your question on why but i don’t see Labour these days as left at all. If you listen to his podcast with Gary Stevenson he’s talking about the ultra rich. They’re saying that even if it doesn’t raise a huge amount of money taxing the ultra rich a bit more(the ones sat on land and property rather than actual workers) it would at least slow down the growth of inequality. That has been growing at an astronomical rate since covid. They’re saying how it’s going to wipe out the middle class, never mind the working classes if something isn’t done about it.

Obviously it’s hard to get that message across to the majority of reform voters. Who have been hoodwinked by billionaire media that stop the boats and all will be rosey for them.

To be fair I've seen a fair few interviews over the last few weeks from the Tiny Tommy rallies and the flags on lamp post brigade that would welcome a Wealth Tax. They unfortunately feel that immigration is the primary cause to their issues rather than growing inequality and decimated public services.

I think it's coming and the louder the Greens can be on this issue with a decent orator like Polanski, the quicker we can get there hopefully.

I wouldn't mind a 40k tax bill.

I think it’s safe to assume he’ll have no time for Putin. He’s started very well so far. So refreshing to see a politician talk quite openly and be clear with his messages
I like to think so. Still, until the words leave his mouth we won't know.

This is where he’ll be good, getting things across in a normal person style. Its acting background will suit the SM era.

Good luck to him, just needs real-life policies to back it up.

It will be a while before they're actually challenging properly, but it's nice to have a party to vote for again.

Likeable and a good message which I think will resonate with a lot of people.

Might take more than a few years to get established but will be good opposition and someone to turn to when the unthinkable happens at the next election.

Hopefully makes the party a genuine option in a lot of areas and builds from there.

Hopefully they do, it's the issue that people need to wake up to. Wealth inequality is by far the biggest issue the country/world faces.
Yeah and from that conversation you know Labour, Tories and God help us Reform will do fuck all.
Its all a bit depressing tbh. Come budget time you will have the self proclaimed centre and right on here arguing about the same old tired tax borrow spend policies. Fiddling around the edges to end up.in the same spot.

Perhaps if their supporters tried to use similar rhetoric, they’d get further.

I watched his interview with Gary, it looks like they're going to shift stance away from the environment to inequality.

Basically said of course they still care and people know they do but essentially recognised that people wont care able environmental issues until they're financially secure.

It's a smart move and essentially makes them the people to turn to when Reform win the next election.
