Poor spelling and "txt speak" drives me spare — especially at university where Communications students are unable to communicate properly.

It's okay to type in shorthand in the Internet, but for mine it falls into the category of "practice makes perfect".

And for mine, I always thought you "spelled" a word, but if you did it incorrectly, it became "misspelt".
"spelled" is an Americanisation of "Spelt", both mean the same. Same with "Dreamed" and "Dreamt"

I believe it comes from the old use of 'thou', which had many irregular past forms ending in 't'. Thou shalt not kill. Normally they'd end in 'est' or 'st'. The informal 2nd person, 'thou', was dropped centuries ago in English but it still lingers on in the Bible and some other modern forms.

I was in the pub the other day and 2 spotty failed medical experiments came in. Both ordered as follows; "can I GET a coke and "Yah, can I GET a spritzer?" Who on earth is providing the influence for this shit? The standard of grammar and speech of some of these cretins is beyond belief.

yet another american import. sometimes doubled up as, for example, "can i get a skinny latte to go" instead of "can i have a milky coffee to take away").

oh, and latte has to be mispronounced 'laaaatte' for the full effect.
"May I have" NOT "can I have"

As an aside to this, can anyone tell me what the trend for adding letters to the end of words i.e. 'theee boyssss innn blueeee' is all about?

I notice that on females' facebook statuses.

Ridiculous.

TB, I didn't think that you'd fall for that one? It was so obvious as well. Unless you're reverse clarkeying me?
