The guilt of spending..........

Now now Mr K I am aware of your green credentials but in my opinion a hybrid model of such a beautiful piece of engineering would be the equivalent of going to a Brothel and having a wank
That’s what I like to see, it’s all about balance. We have gone down the route of one fully electric car and something a little less environmentally friendly which was my old car that the wife runs, but both achieve sub 4.5 seconds 0-60 so all is good in the world.

Worked hard all my life and my main indulgence both in work and outside of it has always been cars. Never worried about buying any apart from one which was a very high end make and a car I had wanted since I was young. Found the perfect example down south, agreed a price, sorted a bank draft with the local branch, went to collect it and then just sat in the car wondering what I was doing. Ended up ringing the seller saying I'd changed my mind and came home. Next 24hrs I was really pissed off with myself and the missus said ring the guy up and say you will have it as you know you want it which I did and went back down the next day. After that initial wobble I never regretted buying it or anything else. If you want something and can afford it, get it/do it and enjoy it. The only people that will try and make you feel guilty about what you buy are the left wing socialists that frequent the politics forum who object to anyone having a pound more than them.
Haha, did exactly that with a fishing boat a few years ago. Organised everything and set off. Had to spend the night in a Travelodge and then thought...there is no way I can justify spend X amount on a boat. Phoned him up from my room, apologised and offered to pay for the advert and his costs and drove home the following morning. Bought a fishing boat about a month later, what a twat !!

Bet you never regretted after giving yourself that extra bit of thinking time. I know at the time I would have fretted for days after wondering if I had done the right thing had I not given myself that extra 24hrs.

Went to tescos and have brought some posh biscuits, i feel dirty ;)
Hobnobs will do that to you! ;-)

I paid £6 for a pack of the choccy ones in New York City last week (Xmas road treat!) and I felt guilty when they were gone.

The next day, I went to the Majestic Deli for a sandwich. When I saw a pastrami sandwich was £20 (yes, 20 fucking quid!), I didn’t feel nearly as bad about the biccies…and escaped for a tenner with a tuna hoagie!

I did, my previous car was a BMW 5 series M Sport. the only problem was my Mrs refused to drive it, which was a pain if we were at the pub and I fancied a sesh.
I traded for a new Volvo XC90 and I have to confess its the most comfortable drive I have ever had, also my Mrs is at one with it as well.
My only criticism is it could do with a bit more oomph when overtaking.
They say that once you’ve driven in a Volvo seat, you’ll never want to drive another car! Looking at an XC (30/40/60/90, depending on wife!) myself for the Mrs, as her 2013 car has 150K+ on it!

Exact same route we are on. Traded my 2008 WRX for a Model Y and our (now) old car is a Volt (Ampera), which has got 75mpg over its 10 yr, 150K mile lifetime.

While we love the Tesla, and the ubiquity of Superchargers in and around Chicago, my wife likes the idea of another, slightly bigger, ICE hybrid.

We don’t like paying big for depreciating assets, but at age 60, we want to make sure we buy quality that will last a good 10 yrs with minimal maintenance worries.

Last thing we want to do is drop $50K or more on a new car as soon as we retire! Plus, who knows where we’ll be, or in what condition by the time we’re in our 70s?!
