yeah...was virtually empty with The Pogues inSaw my first ever gig there, The Fall in ‘83. Even though we weren’t 18, never had any mither getting into gigs in those early days. The place was empty most of the time and they’d let anyone in. Last gig I saw there was World of Twist in 1990. IIRC this was around the time it was starting to take off as a rave club. Not my scene and never went in that period. As others have said, The Venue next door was far superior for us indie-types.

As mentioned above, the house shite said nothing to me about my life but I went to the filming of the Hacienda scenes for the film in a recreated set in a warehouse in Ancoats. I spent the evening people watching on the balcony and for about 10 mins went onto the dance floor (maybe I needed a piss?)
During that time I managed to get my mug in the film as Coogan passed next to me and then I ended up on the inside sleeve of the CD soundtrack!
