Just reread Silence of the Lambs which is a great page turner, decided to rewatch the film's in order.

Manhunter really was all show over substance and strongly reminded me of an episode of Miami Vice. Don't really think that chap from CSI is great as Will Graham maybe the tortured soul act is laid on a bit thick.

Dennis Farina who I always associated with Get Shorty was miscast as the FBI chief.

Didn't find Brian Cox Hannibal Lektor that memorable though his appearance is briefer than I recall.

Tom Noonan as the Tooth Fairy is great, genuinely menacing especially contrasting the murders with the unlikely relationship he forms with a blind coworker, played with dignity by Joan Allen. The only other memorable face in it is Stephen Lang playing a scuzzy paparazzi. Has the most bizarre hairdo and a world away from his turn is the military character in Avatar.

This film was not a great as I remembered but still full of good performances. It's odd that I loved last of the Mohicans but never went wild for Heat.

Anyway I'm planning to watch the remake Red Dragon and Silence. Dunno if I'll bother with Hannibal and Hannibal Rising.
