Perhaps if the government didn't lie at every possible opportunity and hadn't proven themselves to be incompetent muppets at dealing with pretty much anything that has come their way since assuming power, people would be more willing to believe them when they say there's no need to panic.What exactly can government do (any flavour) in this situation. They come out and make a statement that 'there is no need to panic' and everyone loses their minds. They don't make a statement and things go tits up and it's 'Why didn't you warn us?'
