Now, you're talking utter guff!

In the month of the first season proper, of RM's reign, I broke down how he would build up the team play; that he would do so from the back. That up until every part of the team sections were solid, he would not move on to the next part of the jigsaw and that 'swashbuckling football' would follow.

When the fans started saying how we were 'boring' and preferred Mr Hughes back, I was aghast at the impatience displayed! I'm just glad I had the foresight to understand his methodology and not think a team should be able to play straight away.

This is where Mr Hughes went wrong; building a team with players already renown for their positions and just building their fitness and telling them to play. No plan, no nothing in comparison to the manager we have now.

We are witnessing Ruud Gullitt's wish for 'the beautiful game' unfold at Man City. All I can say is, if and when we play Barca proper, it will be SOME GAME!

Never doubted him, always wanted him at the club - but even I have to say, he is far better than I thought he was going to be.

Perhaps my favourite thing about his reign so far is the way he completely ignored every single criticism of his style of play, unwavering in his faith in his own ability.

Mancini knows how to win, and that is priceless.

When he knows his squad is loose defensively he tightens them up, and only when he is sure that they can both attack and defend equally well will he truly let the shackles off.

Given that we conceded 2 today I'd expect him to shore up the middle against Spurs, and he will be right to do so IMO.

Won't be surprised to see the same team as today with one major change - De Jong for Aguero, with Dzeko up front on his own.

Bluemoon will be fun if that is announced lol.

Today was the first time kolarov looked a prem player good under pressure got up and down the line well and stood up to Davies challenge in the first min which could have thrown some players,for me he was a bit weak last year but seems to have addressed that he gave as good as he got today.
 
I have to agree.. Mancini has been doing really well with these players. He incorporated the new kids really well.

Not on their form before they joined I meant.

He is no where near a £17M fullback.

These two were meant to be integral to Mancini's system, yet Zab and Richards proved better.
 
What I'm impressed with is the way the team play hard but there are few histrionics when we're on the end of hard tackles. Today was a hard game and Bolton were trying to get a rise out of us from the 1st minute when Davies clattered Kolarov... but all they got were handshakes, a shrug of the shoulders and an invitation to get on with the game.

This is Mancini all over and it's fantastic to see.

Boateng has left and never really had the chance to get going because of injuries so i don't get your point. Kolorov hasn't improved? Mate you must be watching different matches to me then!!!

When I saw Kolorov's name on the team sheet today it didn't worry me one iota, where as last season I'd have been shitting myself because he looked so slow and ponderous. He's gained a yard of pace through a higher level of fitness and just like Dzeko, Silva, Yaya he has gotten used to the fact that the Premier League is faster and harder than what they've been used to previously.

Kolorov's now seemingly acclimatised to English football and reacted positively to the competition for places posed by Clichy and Zabaleta. So again, everyone is entitled to an opinion and I respect yours but I wholly disagree with it and your statement has no foundation or fact attached to it either.

Aguero hasn't been signed to sit on the bench. He's come in to replace Tevez and his goalscoring. He should be starting every match. It seems harsh to drop Dzeko considering how well he's been playing but, if we start with only one striker, then it has to be Aguero.

Leave Milner or Yaya Toure out for De Jong?

To claim every layer has improved is just plain daft and sycophantical.

Players have been bought not necessarily as replacements but to make the squad stronger and deeper...

Boateng was sold on, at a profit, and Kolarov got injured in game no1 last season but has improved dramatically...

Not every player has improved, that would be silly, but would you agree that Richards and Zabaleta have improved under Mancini? Or are they the same players as they were under Hughes?
 
I for one look forward to Mancini's press conferences and interviews because I'm interested in what he's got to say. He has a presence that I have never seen in any of our recent managers and even though he's Italian I can understand every word he says.

He made me laugh a few weeks ago when a reporter asked him "Why do you think Carlos Tevez will still be a Manchester City player next season?"

He just shrugged his shoulders and replied with a smile "Because he has a 5 year contract with us". Class.

When Mark Hughes was in charge I couldn't understand what he was saying at all in those mumbling interviews he used to give - felt as though he needed an interpreter.

I can't think of one player of Mancini's squad - I don't include those he wants out, such as Bridge, Ade, RSC - who hasn't improved since he took over or since they've been here, Kolarov and Džeko included.
