The lemons have been predicting the end of the Mancini-City era from day 1 they'll be waiting a while yet.
Including some on here.
'The Lemons' — is that Gaelic for 'Cabal'?

:)

Good article ... it's a shame the British press in general have an aversion to "foreigners". You need only look at the "Villa Boas has three games to save his job" shite from a few weeks back, whilst Hughes is still safe as houses.
True, though I think the AVB thing also has a lot to do with the fact that he had the temerity to take their pal Arry's job

Much like Mancini took over their pal Hughes' job. For all the things I've said about Roberto - I need only be reminded of his first press conference to want him as our manager for fucking the next twenty years whilst he wipes the floor with every cliche ever written about him. I'll never forget that **** Henry Winter questioning our owners integrity.

I reserve the right to still criticise Mancini myself though ... :)

Fair enough.
I think that press conference set the tone for the 'agenda' theorists. For whatever reason, I don't think anyone can doubt that a lot of the media wanted City in general and Mancini in particular to fail.
While results and also a lot of work behind the scenes by the press office have helped win over some hearts and minds, some of this persists.
You only have to look at the rabid anti-City articles written by Hughes pal and Chelsea fan Rob Beasley, of the 'hate filled bile' YouTube clip, for evidence.
I think it also made Mancini extremely suspicious of the English press. Whenever he does anything in-depth, it is always to Italian journalists he trusts and has built up a relationship over many years. I don't think he has any such relationship with any English journalist and really, you can't blame him for that after his despicable treatment on his arrival.

I don't rate Vicky Kloss, although I believe someone has been brought in above her. I think the Hughes sacking debacle was proof positive that a firmer hand was needed in dealing with the national press.

Mancini has had a lot of good press in England as well - I think it's unfair to say it's all been completely one sided. I do agree that he lacks trust in English journalists, but he has done at least one in depth sit down with Martin Samuel, and Samuel since our ill fated attempt to sign Kaka has been our biggest supporter.

I wouldn't say he has been a 'supporter' but he is one of the few who has given us a fair shake from the outset, and has been rewarded with better access as a result. He still puts the boot in when he thinks it is needed, but it at least has a grounding in reason and considered opinion, rather than the foaming hatred from the likes of Beasley, Smith, Calvin etc

I don't recall him having put the boot in once since Mancini joined although I could be wrong. Be interesting if you've got a particular story in mind to read it.

Less than complimentary but still a decent read

Glad he mentioned the bit about Fergie taking so long to win a Champions League, and being considerably older than Mancini. It's easy to forget just how young Mancini is (in terms of Managerial speak).

I really think we have the manager who can man the helm for another decade at least, and bring us some serious success!

I know it gets said a lot but chopping and changing managers really is a poison chalice, even if the new manager is perceived to be better. There were probably plenty of managers who were thought to be better than Fergie when he hadn't won anything at the swamp for 5 years!
