The Kippax coppers

Remember getting thrown out for nothing twice. Once in the cup against Stoke once first league game against Birmingham both early 70s. A black lad who was chucked out at the same time got his arm broken by the dibble. Both times just walked round to windy corner and went back in at three quarter time. The coppers could be right bustards.

They would drag you out through the away end for some reason and happily let the away fans get a few digs in as you were dragged past them. Then into a little makeshift caravan police station in the Kippax carpark, where they'd decide whether to nick you and cart you off to Platt Lane, or just let you go.

Officer Dibble, half way up the segregation seemed to usually be the one deciding who's turn it was to get turfed out each week.

Did a search to see if any pictures of the coopers in kipper turned up, unfortunately no. However, and I hate link to the MUEN but, some great pictures of the Maine Road crowd here. Anyone spots themselves?

Wow Im in pic 3 of 15 front left (adidas trainers)

I was asked did I fancy going to the Liverpool game around 1979/80/81. I was about 8/9 years old so excitedly me and my mate get the full kit on! Top, shorts, socks, tracksuit... the full Tony Pulis.

My mates dad was a copper on duty outside and we met him. He knocks on the big gate. They let us in and we're led down to the front of the terrace where another copper will keep his eye on us until those outside make their way in!

We make our way in, Sweets, can of coke etc... in hand and then realise we are two dots of Blue in the Liverpool corner of the Kippax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a fair bit of p*** taking from the scousers but all decent natured before 'old bill' move us into the Platt Lane!
Seem to remember Dalglish's Puma boots more than anything. Oh and them scoring 4???
