It depends what options people have. For example, this town has a smallish Tesco a ,ile out of town and a smallish Waitrose bang in the centre. There are no other major supermarkets within a 10 mile radius, a few Co-ops but that's about it. There is nowhere for the townfolk to go. We are lucky that we can afford the 2 independant butchers that are now only slightly more expensive than the supermarkets anyway and most of their produce is local, but not everyone can.
There's no doubt that food inflation is a reality as we all know. My point is, some organisations who are shouting loudest about the NI rises are at the very same time using it as an opportunity to increase their profit margins.
