I'm going on a TUC course shortly to try and understand the in's and outs of it.
It's not a perfect bill. There's things in there I object to and believe companies should have some veto or opt out clause dependent on their industry. For example my own.
Flexible working has been used to dilute collective bargaining. In my depot alone and the grade I represent 20% of the workforce are on them and it's now costing the business money in OT payments and performance. Most of them are on AMs only upto 14:00 Monday to Thursday contracts. All sanctioned by management without review so they are permanent. For a business that runs 363 days a year. 21 hours a day it's a ridiculous situation.
Late shifts and weekends are difficult to cover.
