The Labour Government

Lammy highly emotional and aggressive on his defence of another prison cock up. He’s been on the run for a week since the 29th October , the police were not informed until the 4th of November the delay is ridiculous for the police tracing/finding this man :( still trying to find the detention centre:(
What a laughing stock of a country we are becoming.

The prison service is broken this government like the last not getting to grips with the safety of the people. It’s Lammys place to inform the house of the latest inadvertently released prisoner. He’s to busy protecting his own reputation to answer a straight forward question and loses his temper, instead of admitting a further prisoner escape

It is another cluster fuck but please get the language right. The prisoner did not escape, he was allowed to leave by those that were detaining him.

Every part of the system is fucked, and there’s no way of sorting it overnight.

Just wish we had a magic wand.

We should be glad he's emotional. People moan when our politicians are robotic so abit of contrary behaviour should please them.

Seems quite obvious that services have been cut too far (when you spread the butter too thin on bread some parts are exposed). The Tory fuckers ripped the inside out of everything at a much quicker rate than Blair did and here we are.

Our only way out is to spend on appointing & training staff in almost every sector, improving the infrastructure of transport and I don't mean fucking billions to shave 10 mins of a Birmingham to London trip.

All this will come at a price, which will mean Income Tax rises which we'll have to suck up as it stands everything is heading downhill and just standing still just isn't going to cut it..

To add to this IF the rises do happen they need although it'll not be pretty, enough to actually get things moving and make a difference & not some half arsed attempt to keep voters onside.

Of course he was “set free” given £75 and told where the nearest train/tube station was?? The police have little chance of tracing him now.

Emotional?

Tory minister opposite him at PMQ James Cartlidge asks him to apologise to family of girl assaulted by the now-deported asylum seeker, Lammy says we said sorry in an earlier debate. Then Cartlidge asks him if he can guarantee no other asylum seekers have been mistakenly released. Lammy ignores that (3 times) but highlights how the prison system has got in this state.

After PMQ, Cartlidge does a point of order to say it's just been revealed that an Algerian national (not necessarily an asylum seeker) was mistakenly released last week and is still at large.

Does anyone doubt that both Lammy and Cartlidge knew before PMQ? And that Cartlidge wasted 3 questions...

in 2007 the average mistaken releases was 50 a year - March 2024/25 was 262 - the previous year it was 115. Its been a long standing and growing issue.

It’s not easy this Government lark and we should all just recognise that fact and be understanding about things that don’t quite go to plan.
It’s almost impossible - govt after govt have overspent and we now find ourselves broke. BUT if they just focussed on trying to fix things instead of scoring points against each other we’d have a better chance of improving. But they’re (all sides) only seemingly interested in beating down their opponents, it’s embarrassing and shameful, just get on with trying to fix the country instead childish behaviour in parliament

Was it a huge issue then for you and something you would have rightly criticised the government for?

I didn’t even know about it. Where was the media outcry ?

There were 115 prisoners mistakenly released in the last year of the last Conservative Government.

Andrea Jenkyns was a Tory Minister and MP then.
Lee Anderson was a Tory MP then.
Danny Kruger was a Tory MP then.
Sarah Pochin was a Tory councillor then.
Zia Yusuf was a major donor Tory then.
Laila Cunningham was a Tory Councillor and worked for the CPS.
Jaymey McIvor was a Tory Councillor.

Lammy knew about this latest prisoner release last night and refused to provide an honest answer to the House today.

Outright dishonesty. The idea behind PMQs is to hold the government to account and to ensure that parliament can receive answers to the questions MPs want answered. Lammy obviously doesn’t give a fuck about any of that.

He’s clearly not up to the job, is well out of his depth and should resign.
