I’m pretty happy. I think the budget is reasonably fair.

If you don’t live in a mansion, or if you don’t enjoy the idea of children living in poverty, there’s not much to dislike?

Not hard to figure out Stan, the poorest who get blamed for our economy always spend their meagre income in our economy. Whereas these big corporations and elites siphon off into tax heavens instead. I have a far bigger problem with them kind of people than the poor.

That’s a very simplistic view.

If they spend it on aliexpress or Shein and the ilk none of it is going in to the UK economy, well I suppose the courier or postie is getting paid to deliver it.

As a side…The government should tackle these airport drop business models as they avoid VAT. Level the playing field up a bit for UK firms.

If they spend it in tut spoons Tim will be happy, and even richer. Or maybe buy the latest Dyson and James can grab another farm. Take from the rich to give to the rich, or the Chinese.

So it really depends where and how the money is being spent if it will actually help the UK economy or not.

So it’s a bit harder to figure out than you think.

Yes, thee will be some who game the system but the vast majority are people just trying to get through life like the rest of us.

We're talking about people who earn £12570 a year. They're paying for the lifting of the 2 child cap for people on UC - not Amazon and Astra Zeneca.

You’ve already said that the UK can’t go bankrupt with the FTSE at these levels. How could anyone question logic like that?

£41bn extra on debt servicing. £29bn extra on welfare. The borrowing forecast for this year alone has been increased by £21bn from the figure they published as recently as March, purely because this government has lost control of spending.

And in a desperate attempt to make the figures add up, they’re asking people to believe that they’ll be a real terms freeze on departmental spending just ahead of a general election. It’s actually forecast to decline in per capita terms.

Given that cuts like this caused you so much distress under the last government, I assume you’ll hopping mad about what’s scheduled to follow the next couple of years.

I do hope it wasn’t regarding the sobbing or sexism claims, that would be an abomination. I remember certain media outlets going with the menopausal bit, which was just another way to say females should not be in be in these positions.

Was listening to an American economist about a month ago who said that the UK was more balanced than was first thought so was a surprise to me that the media went on an ‘Income Tax Rise’ frenzy.

Although the markets have taken the budget well, and it was a bit of a ‘meh’ when it comes to it, just watching a report by Beth Rigby and she’s made it sound like Reeves has completely fucked up.

Now onto the news review and it continues, but nobody has even talked about the state of our social services that has to be funded following years of neglect.

I’m guessing that these types of media are angry that they’ve not got the ammunition to hit Reeves, and the Labour government with.

Edit: Bloke just explained it a bit, Tory commentator hit the roof. Confirmed, they’re angry.

Ps.Only lasted 13 minutes, how anybody can watch that propaganda, I’ll never know.

I agree that 2031 seems along time off. But don't forget we are still in the period that the Tories froze the thresholds for and so not a single personal tax rise until 2028 is down to anything actively imposed by Labour.

Both main political parties have totally failed the UK public. They are incapable of modernising themselves, incapable of reforming our undemocratic political structures, lacking in leadership and strategic vision, totally unfit to embrace the new technlogy-led industrial revolution. I blame the Tories for most of this catastrophe. The time for action was 15 years ago but our outdated system of government is unable to move fast enough for the modern age. The tired old tribal debate between Left and Right is just a way of avoiding reality.
